Appointed Vice Chairman, Financial Services in May 2008, in addition to retaining Chief Financial
Officer responsibilities.
Selected by the Board of Directors in March 2005 to be the new Chief Financial Officer of one of
the world’s largest companies during a time of considerable corporate duress. Actively involved in
setting corporate strategy and corporate development activities.
As CFO, responsible for financial management of AIG’s major business segments: U.S. and foreign
property and casualty insurance, domestic and foreign life insurance, retirement services,
investments, financial services, financial reporting, treasury, tax, enterprise risk management, IT,
actuarial services, investor relations, rating agency relations, strategic planning, internal audit, research
and development as well as the diversity office.
Successfully led the company through an unprecedented internal review and restatement process.
Restatement was one of the most comprehensive in U.S. corporate history.
Held positions of Chief Legal Officer as well as head of Global Human Resources on an interim
basis during periods of executive search.
Served as a Member of the Board for many of AIG’s subsidiary organizations, a number of which
were publicly traded.

Joined AIG in September 2002 as Treasurer to repair the operations and reputation of the Treasury
function with both internal and external constituents.
Enhanced the functioning of Treasury, strengthened relationships with 80+ banks worldwide and

Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Part of team of senior executives charged with spinning off Aon Corporation’s underwriting
operations into its own publicly traded enterprise.
As part of this effort, created and established an entirely new specialty property and casualty
insurance operation to complement existing supplemental life and extended warranty insurance
operations.

TRENWICK GROUP LTD. Stamford, CT & Hamilton, Bermuda. 1999 – 2001


Executive Vice President
Joined Trenwick in connection with the acquisition by Trenwick of Chartwell Re.
Responsibilities included strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, executive compensation, and
oversight of the legal, human resource and administration functions.
Principal driver of the acquisition of LaSalle Re, a public Bermuda-based property reinsurance
enterprise. Led all phases of the transaction, from due diligence through to integration.

CHARTWELL RE CORPORATION. Stamford, CT. 1993 – 1999


President & Director
Hired to help lead this recently-formed company through a period of significant growth; originally
considered for CFO role and was offered role of President, which was then specifically created.
Responsible for all business units outside underwriting, including finance, actuarial, claims, IT, HR
and legal departments.
Brought company public through a reverse merger with a public entity, which was a unique and
unprecedented transaction at the time, involving the issuance of highly sophisticated financial
instruments. Model was subsequently used for other insurance transactions within the industry.
Drove company’s international expansion through the acquisition of a UK-based Lloyd’s of London
managing agency. Selected by the Board as Chairman and Chief Executive of the managing agency
during its significant restructuring from July 1998 to October 1999, while maintaining all
responsibilities as President of the holding company.
Led equity offerings, debt financings, acquisition efforts and new company formations; principal
contact with analysts, investors and bankers.
Spearheaded the process of marketing the company pursuant to the Board of Directors’ decision to
sell the business.

While at Coopers & Lybrand, designed and successfully assisted in the execution of a billion-dollar
recapitalization plan for the company, which did not contribute to any loss of reputation or business
momentum. This work resulted in the offer of the CFO role, and ultimately that of President.
As President, responsibilities included direction of all reinsurance underwriting activities, including
treaty, facultative, surety, financial guaranty, alternative risk and finite risk, as well as all financial,
actuarial, claims, legal and other administrative areas.
Led the development of the alternative risk and finite risk areas, which were among the first in the
reinsurance business.
Served as Chairman of numerous subsidiaries, including Pegasus Advisors and all Bermuda and
Canadian operations.
