Letter of Recommendation

It is with great pleasure that I write letter of recommendation for Mohanish Kulkarni who wishes to
pursue Graduate studies in Computer Science at your renowned university. He also has plans to do
specialization in areas of his interest by pursuing doctoral studies. I have known him since July 2006
in my capacity of being a professor at Computer Engineering Department of the Sinhgad College of
Engineering, Pune, a premier engineering institute affiliated to the University of Pune. I have taught
him the subjects Object Oriented Modeling & Design and Software Architecture and been his
laboratory supervisor for both the subjects. I was his project guide in his final year of undergraduate
studies.

Mohanish has an excellent understanding of concepts and has shown great amount of sincerity and
commitment in all the courses that I taught to him. He has been highly active and creative in his
laboratory tasks with timely completion of all the assignments.

It was my pleasure to guide him throughout the project titled ‘Universal Serial Bus (USB) Support to
Minix Operating System’. I have observed him very closely and monitored his performance and
progress on a regular basis. He works with dedication and has methodical approach towards problem
analysis. He has shown excellent capability to understand technical papers, implement those ideas
and work indefatigably on the task undertaken. He was quickly able to grasp the objective and
deliverability of the project and plan his actions accordingly to achieve the final goal. Mohanish is
very curious in nature. He always asks lot of good questions which shows his research oriented mind.
He is able to put forward his views in a clear, concise and lucid manner.

He possesses qualities such as patience, commitment and perseverance which are needed for a
researcher. He always kept a log of daily activities and maintained a project lifecycle plan. The
quality of his work and his technical writing skills are worth mentioning. He also interacted with the
other students and learnt from them. He maintained a very good rapport with all the professors at the
Computer Engineering Department. His pleasant personality and positive attitude enables him to
work cohesively in a group.

Mohanish has good potential and would benefit from the distinguished faculty and the facilities at
your university. Considering his zeal and commitment towards this field and all his aforementioned
qualities, I have absolutely no hesitation in strongly recommending Mohanish Kulkarni to the
