THE TRIP TO FRANCE
The next step is actually getting to France. You can go by plane, or by train. The cheapest plane

first have to fill in an application file where you tell them what your housing preferences are,
your budget, you show them your acceptance letter so they know that you are a student, your

TRAVELLING IN PARIS
Want to get from one place to the other, and youre too tired
to walk through the districts of Paris? No problem, there are
buses and taxis driving through the city and you can always
hop in the metro. If you happen to own your own car, the
average gas price in Paris is 1,63. Taxis cost 3,10 from the
start and then 2,24 per km.




Metro:
Paris has about 300 metro stations, 16 lines and their entrances are marked with a yellow M.
Every line has its own colour, which are also shown at the entrance of every station. A one way
ticket for the metro costs about 6 euro, but if you are between the ages of 12 and 26 you can get
a discount on a year pass called Carte Imagine'R for the metro lines. The prices are adjusted
to your personal package.
Bus:
With over 59 routes, the busses in Paris can take you anywhere. A book of 10 tickets costs
about 7,55.

ENTERTAINMENT
In Paris there are several forms of entertainment available.
First of all there are plenty of museums available, the Louvre
is the most popular one. A day ticket to the Louvre costs 12,-
but it is free if you are 18-25 years old. A year pass is 15 for 18-
25 year olds, and 35 for 26-29 year olds. There are also
opportunities for clubbing and music festivals like the
marvellous island festival and the monthly parties in club
Haussman. In France there are multiple service providers that
have international broadcasters in there packages. They include the BBC, Discovery Science,
ESPN America, Eurosport and National Geographic. France also offers you English newspapers
like the international Herald Tribune and The Connexion, and of course the Times. There is a
variety of magazines, the most popular in Paris are the fashion ones, but there are also other
international magazines like the economist available.

UNIVERSITIES
Some of the best universities on the world are located in
Paris. To get in one of those universities you have to apply at
the service de scolarit of the school with a copy of your
diploma. To be able to study in Paris you have to have a
decent level of French, which you have to show when
making a DALF test(Diplme Approfondi de Langue
Franaise). You can take this test in Amsterdam in the
Maison Descartes, or at the university you want to go to. To
attend the higher education institutes in France you have to
have a VWO-diploma. Consult with the University of your liking as to which criteria they
follow.

The next question is how much it would cost. The average study in Paris is about 300 per
year, the licence-programs cost 177, master-program 245 and the Doctorat-program 372 per
year. Many Grand-coles are free but are hard to get into. You can also try to get a scholarship,
