PART 2.

Next Three Years

Topic-School Improvement Plan (Years 2, 3, 4)

At the start of each school year the entire staff will be given a copy of the School Improvement
Plan. This plan consists of three building based goals. All goals are academic and formulated
using information from the district data bank. Once the plan is presented to the staff committees
are formed which represent each grade level and support staff category. Members of each team
work together to monitor progress towards achieving set SMART Goals. Committees will
brainstorm ideas on how to make the goals attainable and continue to work towards closing the
gaps in student achievement.

Topic-Leader In Me School and Promoting A Caring Community (Years 2, 3, 4)

Teachers will be placed on a Leader In Me Committee together with their mentor. Each
committee has a purpose and plan for fulfilling the school wide goal of fostering a Leader In Me
culture for all stakeholders. Each committee will meet monthly to discuss ideas, strengths and
areas of improvement needed to move forward. Groups will report out at staff meetings and
share their ideas. Every staff member relies on an accountability partner to discuss both personal
and professional goals and encourage each other to live the 7 Habits in their day to day to life.
Mentors will fulfil the duty of this role with their mentees. Together they will agree on times to
meet and check-in. During this meeting both partners will fill complete an accountability partner
check-in form to keep them on track and to help them build upon their productive previous
conversations.

Topic-Mandated Reporting (Years 2, 3, 4)

Teachers will attend professional development on the mandated reporting systems used in the
district. This training will include Pearson Inform, NWEA and Kalpa. These meetings will occur
in a lab setting where teachers can use their current classroom data and build upon their
technology skills. Teachers will not only learn how to correctly enter student data but also how
to use this real time data in their classrooms to drive instruction, differentiate and form strategy
groups.

Topic-Understanding Poverty (Years 2, 3, 4)

Teachers will attend training through Oakland Schools about the effects that poverty has on the
learning culture. This is a four session course and gives teachers the tools to identify and relate
to students who are part of this subgroup. New teachers do not always realize that they are
dealing with students who are hungry, tired and homeless to name a few. This powerful training
focuses on being empathetic to others and also links to community resources that families in
need can benefit from.

Topic-Growth Mindset Book Discussion (Year 2)

Together with other educators teachers will participate in a book study that focuses on the the
two types of mindsets. This is an eye-opening book that gives individuals the techniques
necessary to change a students thinking from a fixed to a growth mindset. This discussion will
benefit all stakeholders involved. Certainly teachers will love to learn about the mindsets and
how we as educators have the ability to foster a growth mindset in each and every one of our
students.
