Photography Module Facilitators Guide

Rationale:
A picture is orth a thousand ords!" A very co##on phrase, and yet e see our youth
today posting one di#ensional photos so#eti#es as o$ten as %y the #inute! &he ord 'Sel$ie
has (uic)ly #ade its ay into the English language! &hrough the use o$ proper photography
#ethods along ith learning ho to add di#ension through editing e hope to change this trend!
Students ill also learn ho to tell a story ithout ords %y #a)ing a photo essay su%#ission at
the end o$ the #odule, including original, se(uential, and edited photos, thus lending #ore
#eaning to their photography!

+ur groups teaching approach involves a #i,ture o$ #odeling and sel$-teaching! .n
essence, e have given our students #any resources through the ee%ly e%site /including
videos, or) sheets, etc!0 to use to teach the#selves the lessons o$ the #odule! &his is a sel$-
driven #odule, leaving students the tas) o$ getting their or) done ithin to ee)s!
&he reason e chose this style is three-$old! Firstly, e decided that, as a photography
unit, students ould %ene$it $ro# #ore ti#e to or) on practicing their photography and less
listening to the teacher tal)! Secondly, e anted to help the students learn to set their on
ti#eta%le and co#plete their or) on ti#e! &hirdly, e )ne that there ould %e di$$erent
students or)ing on di$$erent #odules at di$$erent ti#es in the grade 1234 BB&E class!
&here$ore, it ould %e easier $or the students to or) on the #odule on their on and only re$er
%ac) to the teacher as needed $or additional help!

Assess#ent:
For this #odule, e have created a ru%ric hich ill #easure several things! <e ill %e
#easuring the level o$ so$tare use, their content and their presentation! For the so$tare usage,
e ill %e #easuring the students e$$ective use o$ the so$tare, and there$ore their level o$
learning ith regards to the usage o$ the pi,lr so$tare and General +utco#e 9 $ro# the BB&
6urriculu#! For content, e ill %e using General +utco#e 5 to #ap out hat e are loo)ing
$or in their pro=ect > i!e! e are loo)ing to ensure that their or) does not $all outside the
provincial policies, as ell as that it is interesting and original! For their presentation, e ill
once again $ocus on General +utco#e 9, hich $ocuses on co##unicating their ideas e$$ectively
