Problem Statement

There are many people who holds driving license and still fail to follow the traffic rules. Due to the
failure of following the traffic rules, there are lots of accidents and most of the victims are also getting
killed by the driving license holders. To prevent the situation the government has decided to bring out
a penalty system for the drivers to hold their license for a longer period. The penalty system will help
the police in tracking the drivers as well as it helps the police to control the number of accidents
happening frequently. If the driver fails to follow the rules then the driver points may get reduced and
at one time if the particular points gets too low, then there is a high chance of losing the credit of a
driving license holder. In order to build the system, the author has decided to build a web application
for both the government and for the people. People who hold the driving license has to mandatorily
register into the system.

In places that employ a point system, the police or licensing authority keep track of how many
demerits points each motorist has accumulated. Each traffic violation is assigned a set number of
points, such as speeding or violating traffic signals, and when a motorist is found guilty of one, the
corresponding number of points is added to the driver's total. Additional fines may be imposed based
on the driver's level of experience, prior driving record, age, educational attainment, and other
considerations. It is usual practice to set a lower threshold for young, inexperienced drivers. If the
motorist is found to be considerably at fault in a traffic accident, points may be applied in some
jurisdictions. The sheer passage of time, a length of time without violations or accidents, or the
completion of further drivers' training or traffic safety training can all reduce a driver's score.

High Level Function of the system

In the traditional Sri Lankan System, when a driver travels far from the hometown and then
disobey the traffic rules, the police a give a sheet filled with information and the driver
should take that sheet and make necessity payment in the post office. The problem is the
driver should be able to find out the location of the particular post office to make the
payment and get the license back from the police. This method of payment will be hard for
the drivers. In order to reduce the time consumption of the driver and to reduce the
accidents, the author decided to build a web application to pay the fines for the driver.

How the System works?

When the driver disobeys the traffic rules, the police will enter the driving license and enter
the offense plus the points will be deducted based on the offense. If the driver fails to make
the payment within the 14 days of the offense made, then the driving license will be
suspended. Therefore, the drivers will not be involved in illegal activities related to traffic
rules. The drivers will have to register to the system since it is a mandatory rule. Each
offense has different points. In order to secure the driving license, the driver should
maintain an average points.
