ABSTRACT

 Electronics play a very important role in developing simple

devices used for any purpose.
 The best achievement, as well as a future example of integrated
electronics in the medical field, is Artificial Skin.
 It is an ultrathin electronics device attached to the skin like a sick
tattoo that can measure the electrical activity of the heart, brain
waves & other vital signals.
 It can be used as skin replacement for people who have suffered
skin trauma, such as severe burns or skin diseases, or robotic
applications.

INTRODUCTION

 The skin is the largest organ of the human body.

 Human skin provides the sensory perception of temperature,
touch/pressure, and airflow.
 But for people who have suffered skin trauma, such as severe
burns or skin d iseases, robotic applic ations & so on
“Electronic Skin” is developed.
 The main objective of artificial skin is to sense heat, pressure,
touch, airflow, and whatever human skin sense.

ELECTRONIC SKIN
 A thin layer of material containing electronic sensors that are
designed to mimic some of the properties of human skin,
especially its sensitivity to pressure and temperature.
 It is made from biocompatible silicon rubber with pressure-
sensitive sensors.
 It can measure the electrical activity of the heart, brain waves,
and other vital signs.
 It can be directly laminated on the skin allowing us to
electronically functionalize human skin

WORKING

 Antennas are used to transmit the recorded electrical signals

of skin to the receiver.
 Strain gauges are used for measuring the signals generated by
the heart.
 Temperature sensors are used for measuring the temperature.

ADVANTAGES

 Compact in size.
 Attachment and detachment are easy.
 More flexible.
 Light in weight.
 Ultrathin.
 Wearable.

DISADVANTAGES

 As it is not readily available, it is extremely expensive.

 The maintenance of e-skin could be even more costly.
 It can be used only by a single person.

APPLICATIONS

 When the skin has been seriously damaged through disease or

burns then human skin is replaced by Artificial skin.
 It can measure the electrical activity of the heart, brain waves,
muscle activity, and other vital signals.
 Smart band-aid.

CONCLUSION
 The Artif ic ial Skin is one such device that depicts the
beauty of electronics and its use in daily life.
 It offers greater sensitivity and resolution than current
commercially available techniques.
 We can predict a patient an oncoming heart attack hours in
advance.
