Sandy is the Pulmonary Research Nurse in the Pulmonary Department. Sandy has
been involved in numerous research studies related to cystic fibrosis, and asthma
in the pediatric population. Sandy has a strong understanding of the IRB, and
study regulations, as well as involvement in state and national legislation related
to cystic fibrosis.
Sandys knowledge in research and advocacy will be a great resource. As a CNS,
I would like to broaden my research skills especially related to drug therapy in
sickle cell disease and be an advocate for the sickle cell population on the state
and national level.


2. Pamela Bucaro, RN, MSN, PCNS, CPNP, CPEN Dayton Childrens Hospital, Dayton,

Pam is the CNS for the Emergency Department. Pam collaborates with the ED
medical director on a regular basis to identify and implement improvement in
clinical care and quality care for the ED patients. Pam has a strong knowledge
base regarding quality improvement and attended the CTEP Mentor program in
order to be an EBP mentor for the ED department. Pam has identified best
practice through research and bench marking with other hospitals.
Pams knowledge regarding EBP and quality improvement would be a great
resource as I develop my role as a CNS in the hematology department.


3. Lucinda Brown, RN, MSN, CNS Dayton Childrens Hospital, CNS Hospital

Cindy is the CNS for Hospital Operations at Dayton Childrens Hospital. Cindys
position includes multiple roles such as, chairing quality/performance
improvement committees. Cindy is the chair of the Bereavement Committee and
is involved in palliative care for the inpatient setting. Cindy is the CNS for the
Chronic Pain Clinic and Pain Management team.
Cindys vast knowledge and commitment to appropriate pain management is
something I am extremely interested in. Cindy is seen as the pain expert at
Dayton Childrens and has published several articles regarding pain management
in pediatrics, which I would like to do in regards to pain management in sickle
cell disease.
