The company was established in 1996 and by
the merger of Unipac Optoelectronics in 2001.
In 2006, AUOs successful strategic merger with
Quanta Display Inc. propelled the organization
to create one of the worlds largest TFT-LCD
manufacturers. The company has achieved many
firsts; including being the first pure TFT-LCD
manufacturer to successfully list on the New
York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
AUO supplies the top brands around the world
with a complete range of panel sizes and
comprehensive display applications. Currently,
the companys large-sized panels hold a global
market share of 16.2%. The companys strategy
is not only about size, but also efficiency. So
AUO extended its portfolio to the green
energy industry in 2008. By building a vertically
integrated value chain, AUO provides
high-efficiency solar solutions worldwide with
its BenQ Solar brand.

High Resolution
AUO delivers 4K by 2K (or Quad-HD) with a
resolution of 3840 x 2160 that is an incredible four
times the resolution of Full HD. This means more
dramatic and lifelike images for TFT-LCD displays for
large-sized applications. Both 4K by 2K, and Full HD are
being implemented into large-sized display applications.
For small-and-medium display applications, AUO also
pursues advances in higher PPI (pixel per inch) picture
quality to provide even more outstanding images.
3D Solutions
AUOs glasses-type 3D solutions include Pattern
Retarder (PR) and Film Pattern Retarder (FPR). Our
glasses-free 3D uses barrier, lenticular lens and
face-tracking solutions that result in more vivid and fun
viewing experiences.
Touch
AUOs multi-touch technology including G/G, in-cell, and
One Glass Solution, goes well beyond the screen. The
touch solution not only makes the glass stronger but
also makes the device slimmer and lighter, providing
outstanding touch interactivity.
