Features
Class AA stranding are used for
overhead transmission lines.
Class A stranding are primary used
in covered overhead lines. Greater
flexibility than Class AA.
Standards
Engineering Information
ASTM B-231
Concentric-Lay-stranded Aluminum
1350 Conductors
Conductor:
Aluminum alloy 1350-H19 wires.
ASTM B-230
Specification for Aluminum-1350-H19
Wire for Electrical purposes
Stranding:
1350-H19 aluminum wires
concentrically stranded, consisting of
one or more layers of wires helically
wrapped around a central wire.
Application
Use as bare overhead transmission
cable, and as a primary and secondary
distribution cable, where a lighter
conductor is desired, vs. an ACSR
conductor, and conductor strength is
not an important factor

The above data are approximate and subject to normal manufacturing tolerances.
Direct current resistance is based on 16.946 ohm-cmil/ft at 20C for 1350 aluminum nominal area of conductor
with standard stranding increments ASTM B 231
Alternating current (ac) Resistance is based on dc Resistance corrected for temperature using 0.00404 as temeprature coefficient of
resistivity per degres C at 20C and skin effect
Ampacities are based on the following:
Conductivity 61.2%, Air Ambient 25C, Wind 2 ft/s, Sun, Sea level , Solar Absorption 0.5, Emissivity 0.5
