Sports Medicine Australia WAs Community Education Program runs

courses and workshops on injury management and prevention. SMA is
always looking to recruit new personnel and we are currently looking for
people to present these courses for our schools, clubs and the
community. We will provide you with the training and equipment you will
need in order to present for SMA. State legislation requires you to also
have a current Working With Children Check where children are involved.
The Course Convener is responsible for management and facilitation of
the course to ensure all participants have an effective learning
experience. The convener should ensure that the course is conducted
in accordance with the outline supplied by the SSP Project Offcer and
resources are available throughout the course as required.
The courses include components of the Level 1 Sports Trainers Course,
Sports Medicine Awareness Course (SMAC), Taping, Nutrition,
Rehabilitation and Drugs in Sport. These courses provide basic
information to high school students and sporting club members on the
principles of injury management and prevention. These courses range
from one to three hours in duration.
Presenting and Convening for SMA is paid
work. Presenting payments range from $35
to $50 per hour (+ GST) depending on the
workshop being presented. Convening
payment is $18 per hour (+GST).
