On Friday night, Carolyn Ford will introduce us to
the Human Design System. The Human Design
System is a synthesis of the Kabbalah, the Chakra
system, the I Ching, Astrology, Astronomy, and
Bio-Physics. At the moment of birth we are
imprinted with a genetic blueprint based on the
neutrino stream from the planets. This results in a
unique expression of individuality. Understanding
this can be quite liberating, and something inside of
us can deeply surrender, allowing our true inner
essence to emerge.
Human Design Analysis reveals the mechanics of
who we are by deciphering our genetic code. She
will share some famous charts and illustrate how
astrology is synthesized into this system Every-
body has a type, and in fact there are four types.
On Saturday, Carolyn will discuss the uniqueness
of each type and its strategy in life. Each person
will be provided with his or her personal design
based on birth date, time and place. Rectifications
are also available. The types are Manifestors ( 8 %
of the population), Generators ( 70 %), Projectors
( 21%) and the rare Reflectors (only 1% of our
population). The Reflector is a lunar-influenced
being, and the rest of the population is solar based.
Knowing your type gives you a place of authority
from which you can make reliable decisions.
Carolyn will explore a few famous charts so that
we may have a broader understanding of how this
is applied. Which type are you? Each type has a
story, and on Saturday you will find out yours.

Getting to Know Carolyn Ford
In 1997, Carolyn met Human Design. Carolyn is a
generator and immediately began her own experi-
ment with the strategy of waiting to respond, her
vehicle for reliable decision-making. She has
trained exclusively with Ra Uru Hu, the founder
and recipient of The Human Design System, and
has taken every course offered in the U.S. She
began giving readings the same year. When you
receive an analysis with Carolyn, you are met at a
cellular level with her experience of truly living and

Carolyns first career was designing and manufac-

John began by saying that the best way to learn
astrology is to learn the ideas behind it. Once your
ideas are straight, the actual practice is common
sense. He illustrated his point with a couple of easy
examples. Several years ago he moved, and the
family cat disappeared. So he cast a horary chart
with the question where is the missing cat? A
horary chart is cast for the time and place the
question registers in the astrologers brain. Every-
thing in the universe can be described by a house,
and cats are in the 6th house. (Animals smaller than
goats are in the 6th house; larger are in the 12th.)
In this instance, Jupiter was in the 6th and it ruled
the 6th. Therefore, the cat was in its old home
and, since Jupiter is a great benefic, the cat was
happy. Jupiter was also Rx and in Pisces. Retro-
grade: is the cat coming back? Yes. In Pisces: the
cat was either wet or very comfortable. Since the
cat was happy, it must not have been wet.
Traditional astrology also works well for weather
forecasting. Johns friend had planned an outdoor
barbecue and wanted to know if the weather
would cooperate. He cast the chart not for the day
of the party, but for the time and place the question
was asked and comprehended. Since it was a
party, you look at the 5th house. The sign on the
cusp was Aries, as befits a fiery party, or barbecue.
Planets are nouns, signs are adjectives. However,
Mars was in Cancer, so it would be a wet barbe-
cue. What sort of wet? The Moon was in Pisces:
really wet. The Moon was conjunct Jupiter: a
downpour. As it happened, that day turned out to
be the wettest day of the year.
What is astrology?
Astrology is the science of light. Light existed
before the Sun and Moon were created. This is
essential light: the light of the essences of things.
Astrology works by communication of essential
light.
This is a subtle, refined light that cannot be
stopped. It communicates from essence to es-
sence. Its the reason you cant stay inside and
avoid your Saturn return; it will find you anyway.
In traditional optics, light emanates from the eye,
strikes an object, and returns to the eye with the
image of the object. The eyes are ruled by the Sun
and Moon, which give light and dont receive it.
The eyes also give out light. If you dont believe
this, try staring at a sleeping cat and see how long it
stays asleep.
The Sun is essence and the Moon is soul. The
right eye of a man is ruled by the Sun and his left
eye is ruled by the Moon. A womans left eye is
ruled by the Sun and her right eye is ruled by the
Moon. When a man and woman gaze into one
anothers eyes, theres a communication of essence
to essence, soul to soul.
Light comes from essence (the Sun) and is re-
flected through the colors of the 6 traditional
planets. Nothing exists in a pure state. Everything
has the qualities of all 7 planets. For example,
everything has Saturn (form), or we couldnt
perceive it. Likewise, everything has Jupiter
(extension).
Tropical vs. sidereal
Images of the signs didnt come first. The nature of
the section of the zodiac came first. The image is in
the sky to illustrate that symbolism. For example,
the sign Aquarius is associated with reason. Its the
only place in the zodiac that has sweet water. All
the water signs refer to salt water.
There is a 3-fold modality working in each of the 4
elements, which give us the 12 signs. The signs
have nothing to do with the constellations and
never did. The problem with sidereal astrology is
that the constellations are very irregular. They
dont occupy neat little 30-degree sections of the
sky; Leo takes up half the sky, for instance. The
zodiac signs dont have a physical manifestation.
Were dealing with essences.
How to learn astrology
If you want to learn astrology, you shouldnt begin
by reading astrology books. Youll learn a lot more
by reading Marcello Ficinos Book of Love.
Anything of value in the Renaissance can be

directly attributed to Ficino. The book is a com-
mentary on Platos Symposium and never mentions
astrology. It talks about love in all its forms, what
to do with it, how to cure it. He describes the Part
of Fortune without ever using the word.
Love is the child of plenty and poverty. It is derived
from adding the Sun and Moon, minus the Ascen-
dant. The Sun = plenty. The Moon = poverty; it is
always hungry. The Ascendant is the point of
incarnation. The Part of Fortune is what we truly
love in the marrow of our bonesthe pearl of great
price.
Pope John Paul II Celebrates his
25th Anniversary

It was a joyous day in October of 1978 when
Karol Wojtyla, later to be called Pope John Paul
II, was elected to lead the Catholic Church into the
new century. The first Pole and the first non-Italian
Pope in 456 years, Pope John Paul II is now 83
years old.
It is always best to start with the most accurately
timed chart. In this case, the chart to be most
relied on is the one generated when white smoke
from inside the Vatican announced the election of
the Pope. We also know the time of the Vatican
Citys Independence chart (Given to Pope Pius XI
by Mussolini on 6/7/1929 at 11:00 AM). The
chart I use for the Pope is the most commonly used
birth time. The best way to delineate the current
status of the Popes reign is to form an opinion one
chart at a time.
The solar arcs for Vatican City are set for the
anniversary. This showed that Pluto had just made
a square to Saturn; ruler of the 5th house (8th from
the 10th), which indicates a change in the status of
the office. The Pope is represented by Venus, ruler
of the 10th. The solar arc nodes are square to the
natal Venus, making this a year of possible death of
the Pope. Everyone feels the death of the Pope is
near, with his health being so fragile, but do all the
charts support this?
The other solar arcs for the year are: SA Sun
trine natal Saturn, SA Jupiter trine natal
Uranus, SA Neptune inconjunct natal Uranus,
and SA Pluto trine natal Jupiter (this follows
the recent SA Pluto square to natal Saturn).
I will briefly discuss each aspect. The trine from SA
Sun to Saturn is triggered by transiting Uranus
opposing SA Sun. Uranus transiting the late
degrees of Aquarius squares natal 10th and 4th
houses, marking a change for the Vatican.
SA Jupiter trines natal Uranus. Recently, the Pope
appointed 31 new Cardinals, who share his
philosophy, ensuring the continuation of the
direction he has set for the Church.
SA Neptune inconjunct Uranus. This aspect
worries me. There is NO provision for replacing
the Pope in the case of coma only for death. A law
(Neptune, ruler of the 7th house - legal matters)
may have to be issued if the Pope should fall into a
coma or suffer a stroke. This aspect also could be
about the legal matters recently brought against the
church. Inconjuncts are adjustments to be made
and illness or death. I had hoped the Pope would
choose to resign, but recent news says he will not.
The transiting nodes just transited the natal nodes,
which are natally at a critical degree. The upcom-
ing eclipse at 16 Taurus squares natal Mars and
conjuncts natal Chiron. The 1 Sagittarius eclipse is
conjunct the 4th house cusp. Both eclipses show
change and endings.
SA Pluto trines natal Jupiter: Both of these rule the
4th house, putting the emphasis on the end of life.
The 4th house also rules funerals. Notice that
transiting Uranus is opposing the 4th cusp and natal
Jupiter.
The chart for the election of the Pope, which is an
absolutely accurate chart, shows more evidence of
a change in the papacy. We can start with the
upcoming eclipse at 16 Taurus, which falls on the
ascendant. This eclipse also opposes natal Uranus,
with the transiting nodes crossing the ascendant.
This will trigger a change in the office.

The solar arcs are: SA Sun conjunct Mars, SA
Mars inconjunct ascendant, SA Chiron
inconjunct Mercury, SA Ascendant squares
Saturn.
In this chart, the Pope is Saturn, ruler of the 10th
house. Taking one aspect at a time: SA Sun, ruler
of the 5th (death of the 10th), conjunct Mars, ruler
of the legal 7th, shows again that some laws may
have to be enacted if this Pope becomes incapaci-
tated. If not this, then I would look for the Pope to
make more firm statements against child abuse by
priests.
The natal Sun in the 6th is weak, but now conjunct
natal Mars in the 7th, highlights things from the past
hidden (intercepted Aries in the 12th), being
brought to light. SA Mars is inconjunct the ascen-
dant, showing adjustments, illness or death, with
the eclipse at 16 Taurus setting off events within the
next few months. Chiron by solar arc has hit the
election charts ruler of the 2nd and 6th by
inconjunct. His poor health and peace of mind have
to be affecting the Pope. I looked at some of the
pictures in my file on the Pope and wonder how his
mind is struggling with the vibrant man he was only
a few years ago. He doesnt even have the
strength to finish most of his speeches. He truly is
a figurehead only. Lastly, the SA Ascendant is
square Saturn. Frustration may lead to the Pope
resigning after all.
This chart for the Pope is the widely used one. I
dont believe it is accurate and I wonder just how
far off it is. The assassination attempts (5/13/1981
at 5:17 PM Vatican City and 5/12/1982 at Fatima,
Portugal at 11:30 PM...yes...PM an attempt with a
knife or bayonet by a man dressed as a priest)
should be good to rectify his time of birth and his
election to Pope. It must be noted that normally no
one would have lived through those attempts on his
life or his ill health. Modern medicine has extended
the lives of mankind and this Popes life for sure.
The Solar Arcs for his chart are: SA Moon
sextile Mars, SA Mercury conjunct Neptune
and trine Chiron, SA Venus inconjunct Uranus,
SA North Node inconjunct Pluto and opposes
MidHeaven, SA South Node inconjunct
Uranus and conjunct MidHeaven.
The SA Moon sextile Mars shows his plans for
more travel. The SA Mercury conjunct Neptune
and trine Chiron shows his failing speech and mind.
The ruler of his chart, Venus by SA, is inconjunct
Uranus which rules his 4th in this chart, showing a
major change in his life. This could be anything
from an adjustment to a move, ill health and death.
The 4th house is the end of life, and with transiting
Uranus in this house squaring his natal Sun, shows
death to me. The SA North Node inconjunct Pluto
and opposes his MidHeaven and the SA South
Node inconjunct his Uranus and conjunct his
MidHeaven, showing the end of his career and life.
Watch the transits and the eclipse on his South
Node for tracking his future.
On a very personal note, I think often of this Pope.
I guess it is because in August of 1980, we were
visiting Italy and at the Vatican on a day the Pope
was greeting visitors in the square. He rode in an
open jeep with no protection. I was on the front,
row, close enough to almost touch him. I tell you
with all the truth I can that I felt his strong aura and
saw the twinkle in his eyes. I feel truly honored to
have seen him. His passing will bring sadness to
this non-Catholic.

White Tiger Attacks Roy Horn

On the evening of his birthday, Roy Horn faced
death in the form of his loyal white tiger reacting in
an unprecedented manner. There is speculation
that a lady with big hair caught the tigers fancy

and she reached out to pet him under the chin,
causing Roy to attempt to get the tigers attention
by yanking on the leash. The tiger bit down softly
on his arm, and Roy reacted by tapping him three
times on the nose. At the same time, Roy lost his
balance and fell, causing the tiger to grab him by
the neck and pull him behind the curtain. The
tigers teeth severed Roys vertebral artery, result-
ing in heavy loss of blood. I believe the chart
shows that the throat was crushed, although there
has been no mention of that in the news. Doctors
were not successful in getting a breathing tube
down his throat. During the two surgeries that
followed, Roy had two strokes. He is communi-
cating at this time by gestures and other nonverbal
methods.
There are many different charts that can be done
for this event. I have listed the data I have found
online. The birth data and article on their lives
appeared on AstroDatabank just after my Educa-
tion lecture in October. Try your favorite method
of astrology to see what you can find.

Siegfried 6/13/1939 at 7:20 AM in Rosenheim,
Germany
The chart of the attack has 24 Taurus rising, which
is within orb of the fixed star Algol. That particular
fixed star is one of the most malefic of all. Algol
rules strangulation, suffocation, and decapitation.
Roys wounds are certainly described by this star.
The ruler of the chart is Venus at 22 Libra, in the
6th house of work, servants, and pets. Although
the tiger is not a small pet, he was certainly
treated as a pet in Roys home and performs as a
servant in Roys work. The critical degrees on
Pluto, which rules Roy and the Nodes, show the
severity of the attack. The Sun in the 6th is never
comfortable or strong and highlights the fact that
the activity took place at work. Also, the Sun is
exactly trine Neptune, showing confusion and
misdirection of the action. Being in the 10th, it
shows that this attack was a very public and
newsworthy event.
Other interesting aspects in the charts are the
following: Roys Mars is conjunct the attacks
Venus, showing that by his actions (Mars) the tiger
(Venus-Ruler of the chart) reacted as trained.
Siegfrieds North Node is conjunct Roys Venus,
showing their karmic relationship. Both Roy and
Siegfried have their Moons in late Aries. There is a
lot more that can be learned if you do a tri-wheel
of the attack with Siegfried and Roy, and also the
progressed charts of the two men. Whether the act
will stay together depends on Roys recovery, as
the two men have pledged that the show will not
continue without both of them.
