S TAPE ANALYZER
Galvanic's 903 H2S Tape Analyzer is designed to measure up to 4 streams of hydrogen
sulphide ( H2S) and total sulphur in gaseous streams. The new 903 H2S Tape Analyzer has the
same rapid 20 second response time of the traditional lead acetate tape, while making
unprecedented advances in accuracy and linearity, and reduced operation cost.
These advances are based on a patent pending algorithm and advanced digital sensor
technology developed by Galvanic.
The 903 H
2
S Tape Analyzer new capabilities include:
0-2000 ppm range without dilution - at least 50 times greater than traditional
tape analyzers;
Linearity and repeatability of just 1% of full scale;
5-15 week tape life - up to 2 times greater than that of traditional tape analyzers; and
Over-range and multi-range measurement
Operators can now measure the extent to which H2S exceeds pre-set alarm levels as well as
use the quick response H2S analyzer in new, higher ppm applications.
In addition, the 903 H2S Tape Analyzer can read samples from different ranges. This multi-
range capability replaces the need for separate analyzers calibrated each for separate streams.
Other new features of the 903 H2S Tape Analyzer include built-in modbus communications /
RTU capabilities, a greater number of outputs and inputs, sensor auto-calibration on each
analysis and dual redundant power supply.
The 903 H2S Tape Analyzer also comes with a total sulphur option. Using the multi-range
capability 1 unit can measure up to 4 separate H2S and total sulphur streams of varying
concentrations.

903 COLORIMETRIC SENSOR
The 903 Sensor Block achieves cutting precise by making accurate measurements at the source of the
chemical reaction. All measurements, diagnostics, and calibrations are performed by an independent
microprocessor on the sensor block.
MULTI-STREAM MULTI-RANGE
Galvanics 903 has the ability to measure more than one stream of varying concentration. Traditionally
two analyzers were required when the concentration of two streams were significantly different. The
patent pending 903 algorithm allows one analyzer to measure 2 - and up to 4 - streams that have
concentrations differing by up to 2 orders of magnitude. For example, one analyzer could be used to
measure H
2
S in the 0-10 ppm range and Total Sulphur in the 0- 500 ppm range.
CONFIGURABLE SOFTWARE
The 903 comes with a Windows application which can be used to configure and
monitor its operation. All aspects of the 903 can be configured including alarms,
sequence of analysis operation, digital inputs, digital outputs, analog inputs, analog
outputs, communications, and logging. Monitoring is achieved using the Analysis
window, with further break downs of alarms on the Alarm window, and IO using the
Status window. In addition it is possible to download logs of analysis results, and an audit
trail showing alarms and configuration changes.
COMMUNICATIONS
With built-in MODBUS communications / RTU capabilities, The 903 is equipped with
RS - 485 & RS - 232 communication ports. The 903 supports Modicon and Enron
MODBUS protocols. The 903 can also take analog signals from other analyzers and
output the data via MODBUS communications.
TOTAL SULPHUR OPTIONS
The hydrogenation reaction furnace allows a standard Galvanic Applied Sciences H2S analyzer
tomeasure total sulphur concentration.
The sample is mixed with a hydrogen stream and heated to approximately 900C. At this temperature
in the presence of hydrogen all sulphur compounds will be converted to H2S. Also, any hydrocarbon
heavier than methane will be cracked to form methane.

SENTINEL
THE WATCHDOG OF CHEMICAL
ANALYSIS AND WATER MONITORING

UNIQUE BATCH SAMPLING CAPTURE TECHNIQUE
The Tytronics

patented sample capture technique is incorporated into the Tytronics

Sentinel. This means of sample capture provides the simplest and most reliable method
of capturing a reproducible volume of sample that is available. The sample inlet uses
1/4" tubing, thus minimizing blockages and allowing even high turbidity samples to be
readily handled.
The sample inlet system uses an internal fast loop ensuring that a fresh and representative
sample is always available for analysis. Sample capture volume can range from 5 to 30
ml. This allows the Tytronics

Sentinel to be used for ppb as well as ppm levels of

measurement.
Mixing is accomplished through the use of a magnetic Teflon

coated stir bar. Two types

of measurement sensors, colorimetric and potentiometric, can be mounted in the reaction
cell.
Peristaltic pumps are
used to introduce
calibrating and cleaning
solutions.
Reagents are introduced
through high precision
positive displacement
piston pumps which
require minimum
maintenance.
The Tytronics

Sentinel is the first on-line analyzer capable of both process chemical

analysis and the monitoring of potable water and wastewater. Offering an unmatched
performance to price ratio, the Tytronics

Sentinel provides measurement qualities and

accuracies simply not seen before. There is built-in reliability, thanks to a simple and
patented sample capture system and wide-bore tubing. This is an analyzer that can
handle difficult and dirty samples.
Whether you are currently analyzing or monitoring liquids, or looking to do so, the
Tytronics

Sentinel is your first choice in on-line analysis or monitoring.

ON-LINE ANALYSIS AND MONITORING
EASE OF OPERATION
Simple menu-driven operation and a modular design make the Tytronics

Sentinel easy
to use and maintain. A person with little chemical background can use the analyzer with
minimal training. Simple step by step instructions are displayed to guide the operator
through the procedure to complete a calibration and to set the unit in the automatic
analysis mode.
THE BEST METHODOLOGY FOR THE APPLICATION
One of the keys to Tytronics

leadership in on-line analysis is the commitment to provide

the best possible methodology (colorimetry, ISE, colorimetric or potentiometric titrations)
for the application at hand. Thus, you can be assured that your measurements of acids,
ammonia, bases, metals, nitrate, phosphate, etc., are done in the very best way.
All parameters in the Tytronics

Sentinel are user programmable. Multiple analysis

methods can be configured to tackle different concentration ranges. Multiple calibration
setups can be used to define different low and high range calibration curves. A cleaning
cycle can be programmed to clean out or dissolve any buildup on the measurement
sensor or reaction cell. Analysis, calibration and cleaning cycles can be executed at
periodic (user-programmable) intervals to provide hands- free automation of the
analyzer.

Colorimeter
The colorimetric system uses dual wavelength optical configuration and an autoblank feature
which compensate for background color and turbidity. Colorimetric sensors are used to make
absorbance measurements for direct colorimetric measurements (Beers Law). A submerged
colorimetric probe measures the absorbance of the solution after reaction of sample and
reagents. The probe is cleaned and rinsed between analyses, thus eliminating the problems
of optics fouling. The probe is made of Kynar

and the reflector of Hastalloy C, which

provides excellent chemical resistance. The probe can be supplied in two different optical
pathlengths, 2 and 4 cm, determined by concentration
CALIBRATION: True multi-featured two point calibration technique allows trace analysis to be
routinely checked by simply using distilled water. Periodic checking of span standard can be
easily performed.
Titrator
Tytronics

Sentinel on-line colorimetric and potentiometric (pH and Redox) Titrations deliver
simple, reliable and highly cost-effective on-line analysis. Acids, Alkalinity, Caustic,
Carbonate, Cyanide, Hardness, Iron, Peroxide, Silver and many other analyses are common
applications across a wide variety of process industries. Tytronics

Sentinel Titrators have the

capability of performing single or dual end-point titrations. The Titrator is equipped with three
detection methods (fixed, relative and derivative endpoint) to insure flexibility and accuracy.
Expanded diagnostic capabilities include programmable learn cycles to automatically detect
chemistry endpoints. Users may program several methods and the system allows for multiple
reagents to be added. Analyses are fully automatic in all cases. Users can easily change the
frequency of analysis and calibration, as well as most of the default values, to improve or
customize a setup; three different access levels provide system security. The Tytronics

Sentinel
also features a full auto-cleaning capability for reliability and reduced maintenance. In sum,
this results in an extremely reliable, flexible, and user-friendly general purpose Titrator.
CALIBRATION: Automatic calibration is user selectable and configurable with calibration
repeat and alarm limits.
ISE
Potentiometric sensors are used for ion selective measurements. The single known addition
(SKA) technique compensates for electrode drift on every analysis. Tytronics

Sentinel ISE
analyzer is fitted as standard with an RTD-100 temperature sensor which permits automatic
temperature compensation of the analysis. Direct Method is used for high concentration
analysis.
CALIBRATION: Automatic calibration is user-selectable and configurable with calibration repeat
and alarm limits. The calibration is performed using the SKA method on a calibration standard.

The PLGC II is a compact and low cost gas chromatograph equipped with a universal
thermal conductivity detector. The unit offers a wide range of applications where
hydrocarbon gas or fixed gas analysis is required, such as in BTU measurement for the
natural gas industry.
Remember when field chromatography was considered too complex or expensive for
many applications. The PLGC II removes these drawbacks. The Galvanic Applied
Sciences PLGC II analyzer is a low cost, low maintenance chromatograph. The PLGC II
can be used in many measurement applications where an isothermal TCD scheme is
suitable. The PLGC II is fully automated and designed to perform on-line, real time
analysis. The Windows

based configuration program allows the user to view most

recent or saved chromatograms as well as configure the analyzer.
The PLGC II calculates the following for up to 8 streams:

DETECTOR
The Detector is a thermistor type TCD selected for high sensitivity at ambient
temperatures and short response time. It consists of a heated filament contained in a
stainless steel block. Gas flowing through the block loses heat to the block depending
on the concentration and the thermal conductivity of the gas.
The detector is a temperature controlled enclosure to minimize the effect of ambient
temperature changes. To further reduce temperature and flow effects, a reference
filament is used in a wheatstone bridge configuration.

PLGC II SOFTWARE
The PLGC II software has been designed to receive, interpret, and plot data from the
PLGC II gas chromatograph. Peaks in the resulting chromatogram identify the
compounds by retention time and the concentration by the area of the peak. Various
parameters, including heating value, specific gravity, and compressibility factor, can be
displayed with the software. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the software is a
user friendly Windows

based system.
Computer Requirements:
Operating System:
An IBM compatible PC with Windows

98,
NT or ME operating system will be required.
Memory:
The PC must have a minimum of 64 MB of
RAM and Windows

98.
Disk Drives:
The PLGC II configuration program is
provided on CD Rom, and requires at least
20MB on the disk drive. Extra space will be
required to save data.
Serial Port:
To run the PLGC II configuration program a
serial cable is required to connect the
personal computer to the PLGC II. Most
computers will have multiple COM ports to
select from. The COM port selected cannot
be shared with any other device.
DIMAC Gas Chromatogram
SAMPLE INJECTION VALVE
The chromatograph is composed of
a 10-port micro volume diaphragm
valve and generally 2 columns
(some applications may only
require one). The DV22 performs
the injection and the backflush. It is
specifically designed for heavy-duty
applications and is rated at
1,000,000 injections before
requiring service. In two column
systems, column 1 passes all
components except C6+, trapping
C6+ for a quick backflush out.
Column 2 separates the remaining
components. Total analysis time is
about 15 minutes and is run iso-
thermally at 40C. The temperature
of the chromatography enclosure is
controlled to minimize retention
time shifts due to ambient
temperature changes.
