Real Value
By: Hazrat Maulana Ilyas Patel Sahib
Consider a person with the following profile:
Age: In the prime of life. Health: Super fit. Beauty:
Outstanding. Wealth: Multi billionaire. Qualifications: 7
PHDs. Social Standing: Among the most influential
people in the country
Two days later he passed away. His re-written
profile now reads:
Age: Dead. Health: Not applicable. Beauty: Body
decaying. Eyes have disappeared leaving empty
sockets. Hair and teeth have fallen off. Wealth: Left
empty handed. Qualifications: Soul did not qualify in
anything. Social standing: Besides a few people
everyone has largely forgotten him and are not
concerned about him in any way.
This is the reality that faces one when death strikes.
One is stripped of all external valuables, denuded from
one's branded attire and wrapped in plain sheets of cloth,
dispossessed of one's wealth, distanced from one's home
and luxuries, divested of one's titles and even deprived of
one's name one is now referred to as the deceased, the
mayyit or the janaza. But... there is some wealth, beauty
and strength which will go along with one to the grave. The
wealth of Imaan, sincerity, compassion, forgiveness and
maintaining family ties; the beauty of hayaa, simplicity and
good character; the strength of tawakkul (trust in Allah

Ta'ala) and contentment all these and other such inner
values will accompany one to the grave. They will be one's
companion on the day of Qiyamah (judgement) and will
pave the way to J annah. Therefore, while making a
moderate effort to earn a halaal living, the focus of one's
heart and mind must be towards acquiring real values.
Real Health
In many Ahadeeth, Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-
Alaihi-Wasallam) has drawn our attention towards acquiring
true values and discouraged us from focussing towards
the perishable wealth of this world. In one narration,
Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) is reported to
have said: One does not become wealthy by having
much material possessions. True wealth is the wealth of
the heart (Bukhari #6446). The wealth of the heart is a
broad concept. In this context it primarily refers to having
contentment. A content person is truly wealthy. A poor
person is one who does not have enough. Without
contentment nothing is enough. For a discontent person
enough is a very deep pit which only bottoms out in the
grave. Thus the wealth of the heart is to be acquired.
This is really valuable more valuable than all the gold
mines on earth.
Real Beauty
Likewise, true value is in inner beauty, such as
the beauty of akhlaaq. Even when age has wrinkled a
person's face, discoloured his hair, weakened his limbs
and sapped away his energy, the beauty of his or her
akhlaaq will still shine and attract like a magnet. In fact,
even in one's youthful years, the external beauty is
superficial. If the heart is not adorned with sincerity,

June 2014 Shabanul-Muazzam1435
5
love, affection, compassion, kindness and selflessness,
the beauty of the face and body will not be able to
compensate for the ugly character that will emanate
from the ugly heart. Diamond rings cannot be a
substitute for sincere love and affection. Gold bangles
cannot be a substitute for true compassion. Treating the
spouse to exotic holidays will not compensate for lack
of tolerance and regular outbursts of anger. Trying to
use money to fill the gap created by poor character is
like trying to fill a swimming pool with a cup of water.
One of the vital aspects of real beauty is hayaa
(modesty and shame). Our most beloved master,
Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam), urged his
followers to adorn themselves with this value when he
said: Immorality will debase and degrade whatever it is
found in, while hayaa will be a source of adornment
wherever it is found (Tirmizi #1974). Dressing in
shameless tight-fitting or revealing garments does not
make one beautiful. It degrades and debases one. It
soils one with the filth of immorality.
Real Strength
While scores of people are obsessed with
cosmetics to enhance their physical beauty, an equal
number are in the gym trying to improve their strength.
Maintaining one's physical health and strengthening the
body is most commendable, provided the means used are
within the limits of Shariah. Yet again, the real strength is
inner strength. Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi- Wasallam)
is reported to have said: A strong person is not one who
can wrestle others down. Instead, a strong person is he
who can control his anger (# Bukhari 6114). Hazrat

June 2014 Shabanul-Muazzam1435
6
Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) is also reported to
have said: The most beloved gulp in the sight of Allah
Ta'ala is the gulp of anger which one gulps down
(suppresses) (#Tabrani 7282). Being able to do a hundred
push-ups is fine, but can one also push one's anger down?
The latter is real strength. This is the value which we have
to make an effort to acquire.
There are numerous examples of inner values
which Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) has
exhorted us to acquire. These inner values make one
truly valuable. The external values will one day become
dust. In any event one will have to leave all the external
valuables behind when one is himself laid in the dust.
Dedicated Effort
To the extent that inner values will be lacking,
accordingly one will suffer from various spiritual maladies.
The lack of contentment will make way for greed to enter
the heart. The lack of tolerance and forgiveness will make
space for malice. To the extent that hayaa decreases,
indecency and shamelessness will sneak in. Thus the
need of the moment is to acquire the true values of
Imaan. This requires dedicated effort and commitment.
Without effort even the perishable things of this world
cannot be acquired. How can we then expect to acquire
the everlasting values without effort?
All the efforts of Deen are focussed in the same
direction. Da'wat and tabligh, ta'lim and the effort of
tazkiah (inner-self rectification) are all focussed towards
improving one's Imaan and acquiring true value in one's
life. It is imperative that we link ourselves with the
efforts of Deen and become truly valuable.

Surah Al-Baqarah Tafseer.

Why not? Those who commit evil and are
besieged by their sin, those are people of the fire
there they shall remain for ever. And those who
believe, and do good deeds, such are people of
paradise there they shall remain for ever. (Verse
81 82).

Having refuted the claim of the J ews as
baseless, the Holy Quran lays down the divine law in
this regard. Those who commit deeds knowingly and
deliberately so that evil takes hold of them completely,
leaving no trace of goodness shall men shall go to the
Hell, and live there for ever, without any intermission or
release. But those who believe in Allah Taala and the
Holy Prophet Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam whose Shariah

8
has now abrogated all the earlier Shariahs and who do
good deeds in conformity with the Islamic Shariah, - it
is these men who shall go to Paradise, and will live
there for ever.
Let us explain how evil can take hold of a man so
completely that no trace of goodness if left. This kind of
thing happens only to infidels (Kafirs), and not to
Muslims, even when they are sinners. For, no good
deed on the part of an infidel is acceptable to Allah
Taala on account of his infidelity; even the good deeds
he has done before his apostasy and infidelity are lost,
and rendered null and void. That is why on the Day of
J udgment, infidels will have to show nothing but evil, in
punishment of which they shall live in Hell for ever. On
the contrary, men of faith will, to begin with, have the
greatest and highest good deed to their credit namely,
faith (Imaan) itself. Then, their secondary good deeds
too are recorded in their account. So, they cannot be
devoid of all goodness, and evil cannot be said to have
taken hold of them completely.
In short, the infidel, according to this divine law,
must always live in Hell. Since Sayyidna Hazrat Musa
Alaihis-Salaam was not the last Prophet, but was followed
by two other Prophets, Sayyidna Hazrat Isa Alaihis-
Salaam and Sayyidna Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu-Alaihi-
Wasallam, the J ews turned into infidels by denying these
two Prophets. So, in accordance with this law, they too
will be assigned to Hell for everlike other infidels, and
their claim that they would be released from Hell after
few days can now be seen to be totally false and
baseless. (To be continued, Insha-Allah)

It is narrated from Sayyidatina Aaishah
(Raziyallahu-anha) that a J ewess one day visited her and
mentioned the punishment of the grave. She said: May
Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave.
Sayyidatina Aaishah (Raziyallahu-anha) later asked Hazrat
Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) about the
punishment of the grave. He replied: Yes, the
punishment of the grave is true! Sayyidatina Aaishah
(Raziyallahu-anha) says: I, thereafter, never saw Hazrat
Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) perform any Salah
except that he would seek Allahs protection from the
punishment of the grave. (Tirmizi &Ibn-Majah).

Commentary:
It is narrated regarding Sayyidna Hazrat Uthmaan
(Raziyallahu-Anhu) that when he stood at the side of a grave
he would cry so excessively that his beard would get wet.
It was thus said to him: You do not cry when J annat and
J ahannum are mentioned but you cry over this (i.e. the
grave)? he replied that Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi-
Wasallam) said: The grave is the first stage (phase) from
the stages (phases) of the Hereafter. If a person is saved
from it (i.e. its punishment) the rest will be easier, and if
he is not saved from it the rest will be worse. He also
said that Hazrat (Rasulullah-Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) said: I
never saw a scene except that the grave was more
frightening. (Tirmizi, Ibn-Majah)
1. We learn from a few Aayaat of the Holy Quran and
many Ahadeeth of Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-
Alaihi- Wasallam) that the life of the grave is definitely
true and the grave is either a garden from the
gardens of the J annat or a pit from the pits of the
fire. Belief in the life of the grave is, therefore, an
important aspect of our aqeedah (belief).
2. Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi- Wasallam) taught
us that every dweller of the grave is visited by two
angels called Munkar and Nakeer and they ask
him the following three questions viz:

June 2014 Shabanul-Muazzam1435
11
a. Who is your Rabb (Sustainer)?
b. What is your Deen (religion)?
c. What do you say of this man [Hazrat
Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam)] who
was sent to you?
Those who answer correctly experience great
peace and comfort their graves are transformed
into gardens of J annah. According to one narration
such people are then clothed with the garment of
J annah and doors are opened from their graves
leading to J annah. (Abu-Dawood)
On the contrary, the disbelievers (those who
answer incorrectly) will experience untold misery
and suffering their graves will crush them and be
transformed into pits of J ahannum.
3. It should be remembered that the phrase life of the
grave actually refers to the period between worldly
death and the Day of Qiyaamah (called Barzakh in
Arabic). However, because most people who die
are buried in graves, the transitional period
between death and Qiyaamah is called life of the
grave. This explanation proves that people who
are cremated, or die at sea and thus thrown over-
board cannot evade the questioning of Munkar and
Nakeer.
4. We learn from Sayyidatina Aaishah (Raziyallahu-

June 2014 Shabanul-Muazzam1435

Anhas) narration that we should seek Allah Taalas
protection from the trails and punishment of the
grave after every Salah.
5. In order to protect ourselves from the punishment
of the grave we must:
a. Seek Allah Taalas protection.
b. Always be obedient to the commands of
Allah Taala and the Sunnah of Hazrat
Rasulullah (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam).
c. Never miss a single Farz Salah (i.e. never
make a single Salah Qaza.)
d. Always be cautious of the splashes of urine
when answering the call of nature.
e. Never back-bite and carry tales of other
people.
f. Always recite Surah Mulk (29
th
J uz) before
going to sleep at night.
May Allah Taala protect us from the punishment of
the grave and the Hereafter. (Aameen)

Lesson:

Life of the grave is a fact.
The grave can either be a garden from the
gardens of J annah or it can be a pit from the fire
of J ahannum.
One should regularly seek refuge from the
punishment of the grave.

LOVE SHOWN TOWARDS
CHILDREN IN GENERAL
Why is t he ha ir b oy long on som e p a r t s of t he
hea d a nd shor t on ot her p a r t s?

Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) once
noticed that a youngsters hair was cut in such a
manner that some of his hair was long and the rest was
short. He reprimanded him by saying that this should
not be done. Either the hair is left to grow all at one
length or it is cut equally all around. (Nasaai)
There was time when Muslims were influenced
by a Hindu custom where a pony tail was grown.
Nowadays the Western culture has modified this culture
by cutting the hair in a manner that some parts are long
and other parts are short. Definitely this culture is as
shallow and despicable as the Hindu culture! Why
should we, therefore, turn to these cultures and when
we have a pure and pristine culture of our own?

There used to be a youngster who used to come in

gathering of Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam)
although he was not a Muslim. He was in fact a J ewish
youngster but he had great love and confidence in Hazrat
Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) and for this reason he
would even serve Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam).
A few days passed by and this youngster did not
come to the gatherings of Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-
Alaihi-Wasallam). It was later learnt that he has taken ill. Hazrat
Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) accompanied by a few
companions went to visit this youngster. When Hazrat
Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) realized that he was on
his death bed, he immediately invited him to Islam. The
boy turned to his father who was at his head side for
permission and approval. The father said, Obey Abul-
Qasim! (Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) title was
Abul-Qasim).
After being given permission by his father, the
youngster accepted Islam. He testified that there was none
worthy of worship in truth except Allah Taala and Hazrat
Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) was His servant and
Rasul messenger. This brought great joy to the heart of
Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) who praised Allah
Taala saying, All praises are due to Allah Taala who has
saved his soul from J ahannam by means of me! (Bukhari)
In the narration of Musnad-e-Ahmad, it is
mentioned that Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam)
had told the Sahaabah (Raziyallahu- anhum) to ensure that they
performed J anazah-Salah over the youngster. He was
then buried in the Muslim cemetery. It has been reported

June 2014 Shabanul-Muazzam1435
15
in the commentary of Bukhari-Shareef, Fathul-Baari, that
the boys name was Abdul Quddoos. Allah knows best.
We learnt from reading the above incident that our
noble master even visited children when they were sick.
He also always encouraged them towards good. Above
all he gave them the opportunity to serve him.
It is, therefore, imperative that we learn the
teachings of our noble master understand them and
inform our other brothers and sisters with regards to them
so that we can all practically implement them in our lives.
Vir t u es of send ing sa lu t a t ions u p on N a b i

Remember well dear children, if we wish to be
successful we will have to follow Hazrat Nabi Akram
(Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) and show great love for him. From
amongst the etiquettes of expressing our love for him,
we learn that whenever we hear or read his name we
should send salutations upon him. It is the saying of
Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) that he who
hears his name and does not send salutations upon
him is indeed a miser. (Tirmizi)
Now let us vow to send salutations upon Hazrat
Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) every time we come
across or hear his name. You should be knowing which
form of durood (salutation) is best? Remember that form
of durood is most virtuous which was taught to the
Sahaabah (Raziyallahu-anhum) by Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-
Alaihi-Wasallam). (To be continued, Insha Allah)

THE DEOBAND ULAMA
AND THEIR LOVE FOR
HAZRAT RASULULLAH

From the teachings and advices of Faqeehul-Ummat, Hazrat
Mufti Mahmood Hasan Sahib Gangohi (Rahmatullahi-Alaihi)

Hazr at Maul ana Zak ar i yya Sahi b (Rahmatullahi-Alaihi)
Hazrat Shaikh, Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya Sahib
(Rahmatullahi Alaihi) intended to go from India to Madinah-
Tayyibah. Prior to his departure, someone dreamt that
Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam) was awaiting
Hazrat Shaikh`s arrival in Masjidun-Nabawi. Many people
were assembled there as well, but he could not recognize
any one of them. Hazrat Shaikh's luggage began to arrive.
Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam) was saying,
"Keep this (piece of luggage) here and keep that there."
Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam) did
Muaanaqah (embrace) with Hazrat Shaikh (Rahmatullahi- Alaihi)
and exclaimed, "O! Maulvi, thereafter, you arrived. Hazrat
Rasulullah (Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam) made comment that
Zakariyya has become very weak. Then he said, "All right,
bring a certain medicine." Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-alaihi-

wasallam) administered the medicine to Hazrat Shaikh
(Rahmatullahi-Alaihi) with his own Mubaarak hands. The person
who saw the dream could not remember the name of the
medicine. A letter comes from Hijaaz to India for an
interpretation. The name of the medicine is forgotten.
What should we do?
Hazrat Mufti Sahib replied, "There is no need to
remember what medicine it was. Hazrat Nabi Akram
(Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam) did not say, Give him such and such
medicine. Or, Take such and such medicine. Rather, he
had personally ordered the medication and administered it
himself. What harm is there in not remembering the name
of the medicine? Had Hazrat Nabi Akram (Sallallahu-alaihi-
wasallam) given the instructions to take a certain medicine,
then in that case it would have been necessary to
remember its name. However, Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem
(Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam) himself had given some antidote for
weakness.
Imagine being present there and being embraced by
Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam). How wonderful!
During Hajj, crowds are huge. Salah with J amaaah is
being read upto the Madrasah Shariyyah where Hazrat
Shaikh (Rahmatullahi-Alaihi) was residing. Hazrat Shaikh
(Rahmatullahi-Alaihi) was yearning to present himself at the
Rauzah-Mubaarak, but because of the huge crowd, he
was unable to do so. He, therefore, requested his
attendants to take him upstairs from where he could see
the green dome. He joined the J amaaah from here. He

June 2014 Shabanul-Muazzam1435

felt comfortable reading Salah here.
One person saw a dream that Maulana Rashid Ahmad
Gangohi (Rahmatullahi-Alaihi) is close to Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem
(Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam) and Hazrat Maulana Zakariyya
Sahib (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) is sitting a little further away. Hazrat
Maulana Rashid Ahmad Sahib (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) was saying
to Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam), "O Hazrat
Rasulullah (Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam), my beloved Zakariyya is
very eager to join you, but I desire that some work be
taken from him." Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu-alaihi-
wasallam) replied, "Certainly he is very eager to come to me
and I also wish for some work to be taken from him. After
this dream, the longing and desire in Hazrat Shaikh
(Rahmatullahi-Alaihi) to leave and meet Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem
(Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam) quickly lessened. Hazrat Shaikh
(Rahmatullahi-Alaihi) would previously think, "Of what use could I
be in this world. Due to my sickness and weakness I am a
burden to others, lying down on the bed doing nothing.
However, (after this dream) he was consoled that work
would be taken from him, and it was not his responsibility
to look for work.
Another person saw Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu-
alaihi-wasallam) in his dream. There was a box near Hazrat
Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam) in which there were
beautiful clothes. There was a J ubbah and an Imaamah
amongst them. Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu-alaihi-
wasallam) was saying, "I have kept these for Zakariyya."

Matters pertaining to Hadith

Demise of Hazrat Abu Zarr (Raziyallahu-Anhu)
When Hazrat Abu Zarr Raziyallahu-Anhu fell ill and
there was fear of his passing away, his wife became
extremely worried. He addressed her saying, When I
pass away then stand outside and you will see a
caravan of travelers passing by from this direction.
Indicate to them to stop and inform them that Abu Zarr
Raziyallahu-Anhu has passed away. Ask them to carry out
the burial rites. Whilst they are busy carrying out the
burial rites, slaughter this kid-goat and prepare a meal
with it. Thereafter grind this grain and make bread with
it. Once they have completed the burial rites inform
them that it is the bequest of Abu Zarr Raziyallahu-Anhu that
they first partake of meals before departing.
The season of Hajj had already drawn close and
the movements of caravans to and fro had come to a
stop. It so happened that the Ameer-ul-Mumineen had
sent an order to Hazrat Abdullah-bin-Mas`ood Raziyallahu-
Anhu to come and visit him at the time of Hajj. Hence,
Abdullah-bin-Mas`ood Raziyallahu-Anhu together with his
companions were on their way travelling quite fast.

June 2014 Shabanul-Muazzam1435
20
In the meanwhile, Hazrat Abu Zarrs Raziyallahu-
Anhu wife had come outside waiting for the caravan as
instructed by her husband. In the distance, she noticed
the caravan approaching and indicated to them to stop.
She then informed them of the death of Hazrat Abu Zarr
Raziyallahu-Anhu.
Upon hearing this, Hazrat Abdullah-bin-Mas`ood
Raziyallahu-Anhu remarked,
Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam had
spoken the truth. He had said to him, O Abu Zarr! You
will pass away in solitude.
Abu Zarr Raziyallahu-Anhu had an enmity towards
wealth prior to accepting Islam and after accepting
Islam the direction of his enmity changed. Prior to
accepting Islam, whenever he saw wealth with anyone
he used to plunder and loot it. This was because he
could not bear seeing it in the hands of others and not
in his possession. After accepting Islam, his intolerance
for wealth changed course and whenever he saw
wealth in the possession of others he used to say, Why
dont you give it as charity in the path of Allah.

Is experiencing difficulty at the time of death
due to sins?
Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam himself had
also desired to meet Allah Ta`ala. To undergo difficulty
is a different matter.

Despite there being numerous dangers on the way to
Layla, but the precondition for the very first step is that
one needs to first become Majnoon.

Umm-ul-Mumineen Hazrat `Aaihah Siddeqah
Raziyallahu-Anha said, Whenever I saw someone suffering
from the pangs of death, I attributed the suffering to him
being a sinner. However, when I witnessed the difficulty
that Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam had
undergone, I realised that the suffering is not due to
sins but due to some other reason.
Hazrat Nabi Akram Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam has
mentioned:
' = . = | . . . , . > v , , . . . , v - . . v -

(The Ambiyaa are tested the most, then those after
them in rank and then those after them.)
Hazrat Sayyidna Ibrahim Alaihis-Salaam had
undergone many difficulties. He was ordered to leave
his son and wife in a barren land. Then he was
commanded to slaughter his son. His entire life was
spent in this manner.
The difficulties that people undergo differ from
person to person. However, some people do not
undergo difficulties. Some have a greater endurance.

A NOTEWORTHY FACT
Shaikhul-Hadith has stated a noteworthy fact. He
wrote, Whoever is to achieve greatness, you will learn
about him from the scholars of Ilm of his time. He is at
his peak of Taqwa, the obedience of Sunnah and acting
upon his Ilm when he is a student. He is so steadfast
that he gains recognition at that time.
Therefore, when you study, do so keenly, with
the intention of putting your Ilm into practice. As you go
along. Allah Taala will fill your chest with the Noor of
Ilm. Finally, this same Ilm will, on the day of Qiyaamah,
be the cause of nearness to the Prophet (Sallallahu-
alaihi-wasallam). It is mentioned in a Hadith that on the
day of Qiyaamah, when the thirsty Muslims will arrive at
the Well of Kawthar, the Angels will present cupfuls of
the water for them to drink. However, when the Ulama
will arrive at the Well of Kawthar, the Prophet (Sallallahu-

Dua

May Allah Taala raise up on the day of Qiyaamah
among the Ulama and Sulahaa, and May He accept
our entire lives for the cause of Ilm, Aameen! O Allah,
my Gracious Lord, I beg a single glance from you, on
which depends my existence.

I am ashamed of my lowness, aware of Your
Magnificence
What can I do about my heart; it still craves for Your
Acquaintance.

Musa was desirous to see Allah Taala
But Allah Taala was desirous to see you.
How can Tur Sina compare to Miraj?
How can earth compare to the heavens?
How can Yusufs beauty compare to yours?
He was the beloved of Zulaikha, you are the beloved of
Allah Taala.

Veiled in the secret of humanity is your flawless beauty
Unknown to all that you are part of the beauty of Allah
Taala Prophet and angels cannot claim the same
nearness as you, You are the beloved of Allah Taala
the Proud.
Everyone else is an outsider.
Many a times the moon has tried to rival your beauty,
But never could it present splendor close to yours.
How can I boast affiliation to you?
I am as unclean as you are pure and chaste.
I would not be surprised if for your sake
The sins of your nation are counted as acts of
obedience.
The crimes of your nation are considered so precious,
The least of your nation be showered with a thousand
blessings.
Depending on your intercession my rebelliousness
increased.
I am sinful, I am disobedient, but still I belong to you

BRINGING UP
CHILDREN IN ISLAM

By: Hazrat Maulana Dr. Muhammad Habibullaah Mukhtaar Sahib
Translated by: J enab Rafiq Abdurrahmaan Sahib

(Continued from the previous issue of AN-NOOR)

In showing r espect, the mother enjoys a
pr efer ent ial over the father
Once, the Noble Rasool (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam)
gave the command thrice that one must treat ones
mother with courtesy. Only the fourth time he
mentioned the father.
1
The pangs of birth that a mother
endures cannot be requited in any manner, not even if
a son carries her on his shoulders and make tawaaf
around the Kabah-Shareef and carries her during hajj.
2

A mother suffers much pain and agony, more than a
father does, when she carries her child in her womb,
gives birth, nourishes with her milk and rears the child
while it grows. Therefore, it has been commanded to be
more courteous to the mother than to the father.

In any case, it is natural for a mother to be more

loving and compassionate than a father. When a child
receives motherly love and doting treatment, the child
sometimes becomes careless in treating her. The
Shariah, however, enjoins one to be more civil to ones
mother. Her love for her children causes her to forgive
every act of disobedience, and when finding them in
difficulty she clutches them to be bosom.
Disobedience to parents is a grave sin. It is
reported of a person that he could not utter the kalimah
when he was close to death. Noble Rasool (Sallallahu-
Alaihi-Wasallam) was informed of this situation. He asked
if his parents were alive. When told that his mother was
alive, he asked her about her son. She praised him,
saying, He is generous and pious. The Noble Rasool
(Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) asked her, How does he treat
you? She replied that she was displeased with him
because he preferred his wife over her. He said, He is
unable to recite the Kalimah because he has
displeased his mother. Then he addressed Bilal,
Collect firewood and light a fire so that this man may
be cast into it. The woman protested, O Rasul of Allah
Taala! Will you put my darling into the fire while I am
still alive? May Allah Taala bless His Rasul and shower
peace on him, He said, Then, forgive him! And be
pleased with him! Unless you do so, his Salah, his
Saum, his Sadaqaat that stand in his name will not
bring him any benefit. The woman spontaneously

forgave her son. He was able to recite the kalimah and
died peacefully. After the J anaazah-Salah, he stood at
the edge of the grave and said, The curse of Allah
Taala is on one who prefers his wife over his mother.
His ibaadah will not be accepted, be they farz or nafl.

Behavior towar ds par ents
Do not walk ahead of your parents. Do not call
them by their name. Do not be annoyed at their
advice. Do not use something they intend to use. Do
not sit at a level higher than them. Do not disobey
their instructions. Deal with them kindly and softly. Do
not chide them.
2
Do not stare at them.
3
Do not

The children of our worthy

They in turn
enjoined their offspring to adopt these mores.

holding a lamp under a utensil containing water so
that his father could use it in the morning.

bestowed Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifah (Rahmatullahi-alaihi)
with Fiqh, religious knowledge coupled with a practical
implementation, generosity and Quranic character.
Hazrat Sayrami (Rahmatullahi-alaihi) narrates that
Hazrat Yahya Ibn Aktham (Rahmatullahi-alaihi) also said:
Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifah (Rahmatullahi-alaihi) was a true

The freeing of a bondswoman is tantamount to

replied: Because of the Hadith of Hazrat Nabi Akram
(Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) in regards to Hazrat Bareerah
(Raziyallahu-anha). When she was set free, Hazrat Nabi
Akram (Sallallahu-Alaihi-Wasallam) gave her the option of
slavery from her husband of her days of slavery or her
own freedom. To this Hazrat Amash (Rahmatullahi-alaihi)
replied: Hazrat Abu Hanifah is a very intelligent man.
In other words, he found this analog of Hazrat Imam

Hazrat yaqub bin Shaybah (Rahmatullahi-alaihi)
narrates that when Hazrat Imam Amash (Rahmatullahi-

started seething with jealousy.

An Expert Advice
of Shaikhul-Islam, Hazrat Maulana
Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani
Sahib Daamat-Barakatuhum to Ulama-e-Kiraam

Translated By: Mufti Inayatullah Raheemi Sahib of Darul-
Uloom Raheemiyyah Bandipora

I have visited a large number of countries and
also saw and observed their culture, Ive read lot of
Urdu, English, Arabic and Persian books which are
related to different schools of thought. As per my
knowledge, I found that there is no book that can
compete with the books of Hakeemul-Ummah, Hazrat
Maulana Ashraf Ali Thaanvi Sahib Nawwarallahu-Taala
Marqadahu. These books are just like a food for spiritual
growth. Though I am much busy still I keep his books
with me and I have amended my busy schedule for
the reason to get myself enlightened. I, necessarily,
study his books for five minutes every day before
going to bed. Though I abide by my daily routine, but
sometimes it allows me when the beauty of words
and knowledge of the esteemed author bewitch me
for more than half an hour. Now I am unable to make
you understand how these books are food for ones
spiritual improvement.
My only humble request to you is that every
student should make a daily routine to read his
speeches and books, at least for five minutes, and
you will see these books will touch your hearts and
you will try to finish the book in one sitting.

Improving Muslim character

Dear Editor,
I am a regular reader of your monthly journal, AN-
NOOR. It carries reformative editorials, essays and
articles lucidly. It prevents Muslims from indulging in
ogling non-Mahram women, usury, backbiting, gambling
and from taking bribe. Hence your journal is improving the
character of a Muslim man and a Muslim woman.

Blasphemous book hurt us deeply

Dear Editor,
Apropos of the editorial: Shock and Outrage, AN-
NOOR, Feb 2014. The blasphemous book, Basics of
Islam, written by insolent caricaturist, in which she had
sketched caricatures of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu-alaihi-
wasallam, hurt us deeply. You have toned down her
serious offences in your editorial by describing her
criminal offence as depiction. She deserves no leniency
as she had insulted the most revered Messenger of Allah
Taala Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam publicly.

Beware of Displeasing the
Holy Prophet Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam on the Marriage
Ceremony: Esteemed Rector

The esteemed rector of Darul-Uloom Raheemiyyah
Bandipora, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Rahmatullah
Sahib Qasmi Daamat-Barakatuhum, while addressing a large
gathering of Nikah-Majlis at Islamic Dawah Centre (IDC)
Srinagar, on 17 May Saturday 2014, cautioned that utmost
care should be taken on the occasion of marriage by
avoiding any such act or custom, which if performed,
would displease the Holy Prophet Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam.
Be mindful that the displeasure of the Holy Prophet
Sallallahu-alaihi-wasallam would bring wrath and disaster in the
form of disputes, diseases and anxieties to such marriages
which will not be performed in accordance with the Islamic
Shariah, Hazrat cautioned.
Hazrat Maulana Sahib Daamat-Barakatuhum narrated
that Hazrat Qari Siddiq Sahib Bandwi Rahmatullahi Alaihi, once
in a majlis of Nikaah advised the people that on this happy
occasion, they are trying to please every relative and friend
by accomplishing their wishes regarding the marriage.
However, is a true ummati of beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam cares to refrain from any such act or custom that
may displease his beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
On this occasion, Hazrat Maulana Sahib, performed
Nikah of a couple on Mehr-e-Faatimi that was paid to the
attorney of the bride in the same Majlis. The Majlis was
concluded with Duaa by Hazrat Maulana Sahib Daamat-
Barakatuhum.
