Firmly established as one of the top events of its kind in the UK, as well as one of the biggest in the
whole of the Midlands, the eighth annual Derby Fest will this year take place over the weekend of
September !

First staged in $$" as a way of helping to showcase the changes to the city brought about by
more than %&billion worth of regeneration, Derby Fest somehow symbolises the city's new&found
spirit, and brings with it a mood of celebration set against the vibrant backdrop of street culture#
(t has also grown to the point where it now offers locals and visitors alike two days of world&class
outdoor performance which, this year, will kick&off with the heartbeat&)uickening drummers Spark* &
a live music, movement and lighting spectacular in which seven mysterious characters composed
of light and sound will transform the landscape around them#
+ performance filled with plenty of audience participation and movement, it will help to move the
crowds into Derby's Market S)uare, in time for a dynamic retelling of Faust by ,ad -aste .ompany#
Featuring a fusion of /indy 0op, .harleston and Swinging ,ig ,and music of the roaring $1s, this
retelling of 2oethe's tragic tale is populated with bootleggers, gamblers, flappers3and high octane
energy* Friday evening will then draw to a close with a top D4 set from Da Sunlounge#
5n Saturday evening, the headline act will be 6oal7's stunning Muar, a mesmerising cocktail of
live rock and aerial acrobatics by this sensational Spanish visual arts and dance company, whose
sophisticated choreographic se)uences in the air have thrilled audiences around the world#
,efore Muar on the Saturday evening, the city streets will start to bu88 and come to life from
midday, with a host of family friendly entertainment featuring everything from live music, to circus
performers# -his will be followed in the market place for D4 9oody's Hip Hop is 40, an audio video
history of the culture which grew from the original ,lock :arties to become a global phenomenon#
+lso returning for another year will be the Splash Stage, showcasing some of the best talent in
Derbyshire#
