Moz News
Mat 24:14 All during this time, the good news--the Message of the kingdom--will be preached all over the
world, a witness staked out in every country. And then the end will come. (MSG)
Greetings to all,
Headlines in Brief: Pics for those who do not
like reading that much. S.A.- Brazil Team visit,
many baptisms, sleep deprivation, school &
orphans visits and S.A.- style power blackouts.
Riding the Cobra roller-coaster can be
considered mildly exciting, as is bungi jumping
from Skytower in Auckland, BUT the last month
here in Moz has been somewhat more
exhilarating than those simple fleshly pleasures. If
you prefer graphic images to words then you can
stop reading now and just check out the next 2
pages of what weve been doing and whats been
achieved recently.
The S.A./Brazillian team arrived after a scary
accident along the dreadful, cratered, main
highway when their small trailer broke free from
its bondage to the vehicle and decided to travel
by air instead of by road. By the grace of God no
one was injured and only a few items were
damaged or lost.
Their ministry here was wonderful and we linked
them in with the work that the local evangelists
were doing here and we ended up baptising
between 40 and 50 believers, some in the sea
and others in the tranquil Lago Azul (Blue Lake)
which is pleasantly crocodile-free.
Thanks to you folk, partners in this mission, that
the orphan centre in Mitange (Namacurra district)
has sufficient building material for the first
dormitory. A bridge leading into the area has
collapsed and so although there are still some
delays, hopefully construction will begin soon.
The sleep deprivation reference is caused by the
noise of a new bar that has opened up about 75m
from our apartment. The noise starts at 16:00 and
continues throughout the night till about
02:00a.m. One Tuesday morning I even got
dressed at that time and visited the merciless
police force try and shut the noise down, but
sadly, to no avail. We even tried sleeping on the
floor of our office, partway under the desks to find
a small space of silence. Finally we resorted to
moving our bedroom into our tiny office, and the
office is now in the front bedroom. At least this
way, the noise is reduced to a dull stadium roar.
We did however gain a wonderful time of rest
when we travelled back down to Beira for the
Biblical Literacy conference where we had been
invited to teach on a number of topics. The
absolute joy was a quiet room, in a semi-rural
area and the two sleep-starved people made the
most of their time away from Dantes inferno.
After that it was a quick visit to the house of pain
to deal with a number of broken teeth. With the
amount of plastic now slightly exceeding the
original calcium content of the gnashers we
headed back home.
Another visit to the small community school
planted in Namunho went off well with the local
pastor feeding the entire school of 100 kids with
produce he had grown on the school grounds.
The pics on the following pages show the children
receiving both food for the soul and for the body
as they received a Bible message followed by a
full sit-down meal.
Computer contact with all our partners has been
made a little more difficult with S.A. style power
failures. Produced a real sense of homesickness
as we remembered the very regular Eskom
powergrid failures.
