Series 70
FEATURES BENEFITS
On/O and modulating models are available in 24, 110 and 220 VAC. The standard enclosure is
NEMA 4x and IP65 rated with an industrial polyester nish, making the Series 70 the ideal choice for
cooling tower valves and other outdoor applications. The advanced Servo Pro modulating control card
assures compatibility with virtually any analog control signal used in todays building automation and
temperature control systems.

Series 70 - Features and Benefits
The Bray Series 70 Electric Actuator provides
a rugged, compact industrial actuator solution
to a wide range of quarter turn applications
including buttery valves, ball valves, and
dampers. Available in torque outputs from
600 to 18,000 lb. in. (68 to 2033 Nm), these
actuators mount directly to Bray and other
industry standard buttery valves without
the need for brackets and linkages. The manual
declutchable override handwheel is standard
on all Bray Series 70 actuators, providing end
user convenience in installation, commissioning
and service.

Industrial electric actuators shall include manual declutchable override handwheel and high visibility position
indication. Motors shall be continuous duty. Enclosure shall be NEMA 4X, IP 65 rated. Actuator shall conform
to ISO 5211 standards for direct mounting onto quarter turn valves. On/O actuators shall be equipped with
internal isolation relays to allow parallel wiring of multiple units. Modulating actuators shall be equipped with
a microprocessor-based servo control with on-board diagnostics. Actuator shall be UL, CSA and CE approved.

(BBU) Battery Backup for the - Series 70
The Battery Backup (BBU) option for the Bray Series 70 24VAC actuators provides a convenient and cost eective
solution to provide return of the valve or damper to a user-selectable position upon loss of supply power.
The BBU is available for both On/O and modulating actuators.
The advanced circuitry of the BBU continuously monitors battery strength and provides a visual indication (LED)
and remote indication (via dry contact). The BBU is housed in sturdy die cast aluminum NEMA 4x (IP 65) enclosure
and is factory mounted and factory wired to the Bray Series 70 24 VAC actuator.

Specifications and Dimensions - (BBU) Battery Backup
SPECIFICATIONS
In the normal mode of operation with power supplied to the actuator, the batteries maintain a charge and are in an
oine mode. The power applied to the motor is from the power supply, not the batteries.
Upon loss of supply power, after a 10 second startup sequence, the BBU circuitry applies the stored power in the
batteries to move the valve or damper to the full open or full closed position designated by the user. The actuator
remains in this position until external power is restored to the unit.
For two position (on/o units), and modulating units, the BBU board automatically detects when the actuator has
reached the desired position and then disconnects the battery power from the motor.

The standard AU models are 120V single phase. Three
phase units are available as an option. All AU series
actuators include two auxiliary switches, torque switches,
a position indicator and a heater. Modulating units
provide position feedback as standard.
AU series actuators mount directly to Bray buttery valves
and ball valves without the need for adapter bracket.
Thermal overload protection is provided by means of PTC
thermistors connected directly to the motor windings.

AU Series Electric actuators provide precise, durable control of quarter turn valves including rub-
ber seated buttery valves, high performance buttery valves and industrial ball valves. The compact
industrial housing is rated to NEMA 4X (IP 67) standards for outdoor use. All models include integrated
controls and a manual override handwheel.

The Bray Series 92/93 high pressure pneumatic
actuators are ideally suited to a wide range of
quarter turn applications including buttery valves,
ball valves and dampers. These rack and pinion
actuators are available in Series 92 double acting
(air to open, air to close) and Series 93 single acting
(spring return) models.
The compact and robust design of the Series 92/93
actuators feature an extruded aluminum housing,
polyester-coated die cast aluminum end caps, die
cast aluminum opposed pistons, and a carbon steel
zinc plated output pinion. Conforming to the ISO
5211 top ange standard, all Series 92/93 actuators
are directly mounted to the valve top plate or saddle
without the need for adapters or brackets.
Series 92/93 actuators are available with a wide range of factory-mounted
Brayline accessories including pneumatic positioners, electro pneumatic
positioners, solenoid valves, position indicators and manual declutchable
gear override assemblies.

technology, the Series 6A features rugged reliability, high quality components
and outstanding performance.
Series 6A positioners are microprocessor controlled, delivering all the benets
of digital electronics. The microprocessor constantly compares the command
signal to the actual valve position and makes precise, on-line adjustments un-
til the two measurements match. The use of the piezoelectric control element
results in near zero air consumption, ultra high resolution and extremely low
hysteresis.
Series 6A positioners were designed with ease of installation, simple calibration,
eciency and economy in mind. The modular product line is easily customized
for specic applications. Additional positioner functions may be obtained by
installing optional circuit boards.

Bray Controls is proud to oer the Brayline Series 50 Valve Status Monitor, the future
of valve position signaling. Brays extensive eld experience, research and develop-
ment has produced the nest multipurpose switch/control monitors for industrial
plant automation. The Series 50 signals actuator and valve position to local and
remote stations. The Series 50 has a die cast aluminum housing which is waterproof
(NEMA-4,4X). The units have been designed for ease of wiring and a wide variety
of switches.
Bray has specially designed position
indicators which locally signal valve
position. The pointer,
made of ABS, comes
standard with all
Series 50 units.
High visibility display AVAILABLE
Prominently labeled and color coded yellow for pen, red
for closed the display indicates valve position through the
full range of travel. Made of high impact, heat and chemical
resistant clear polycarbonate, this display withstands caustic
wash-down and oers excellent corrosion protection.
High-visisbility display is 3" in
height. For cover removal, allow
an additional 3" clearance.
A compact, modular design allows direct mounting of the
Brayline Valve Status Monitor to Bray Series 92 double acting
and Series 93 spring return pneumatic actuators without any
brackets or couplings. The mounting pattern complies with
VDI/VDE 3845 (NAMUR recommendations).

Manual Overrides - Series 05
Available for 2"-36" (50mm-900mm) valves. This operator is excellent for the safe handling of spring return actuators.
During pneumatic operation, the worm of the gear unit is disengaged. Should the valve require opening or closing in the
event of power loss, manual rotation of the declutch lever will provide a camming action and engage the worm to the
segmented worm gear, allowing rotation of the valve using the handwheel. The Series 5 can be installed in the eld with
existing Bray pneumatic actuators.

Low Pressure Pneumatic Actuators
The D3000 Series includes the D3153, D3244, and the
D3246. These Pneumatic actuators provide a low pressure
alternative for positioning buttery valves, ball valves
and dampers with nominal 20 PSI air supply.
All D3000 Series actuators are single acting/spring return
featuring a spring and diaphragm inside a die cast aluminum
housing.

All actuators are sized for 20 PSI air supply using an 8 to 13
PSI nominal spring range. The D3000 Series is available with
our without a pneumatic positioner.
