AIX host registration with VNX/Clariion

This document defnes the steps for installing naviagent and registering Cloned AIX
hosts to the VNX/Clariion Array.

)" (emove the fles *ostI+,ile.t-t and agentI+.t-t.
(emove the *ostId,ile.t-t fle
The *ostId,ile.t-t is in /etc/log directory for AIX$ *./0X$ and %olaris$ in
/usr/ssm/etc/log for I(IX$ and in /var/log for 1inu-.
(emove agentI+.t-t fle
1ocation 2/3 for 0NIX systems$ and 2sys43 for Net#are.
5" Install NaviAgent software.
6" Chec7 the *ostI+,ile.t-t and agentI+.t-t fles for proper setup.
Change /etc/agentI+.t-t. This fle is manually created to identify which I. address
Navisphere should use when there are multiple I. addresses on the host. The frst
line of the fle contains the host name that you want the Agent to use when it
registers with the array. The second line contains the I. address that you want the
Agent to use. 8a7e sure there is a new line character at the end of the second line.
Copy this fle to the 9/9 directory.

the naviagent$ as naviagent uses ethernet to register with the Clariion/VNX array.

;" Verify that the host initiator pwwns get registered under the respective host
names/ip addresses. 8a7e sure that no pwwns/initiators are logging under incorrect
hosts. ,or the servers that are already running in production$ downtime not
availa&le and the initiators showing manually registered$ we can leave those
initiators as manually registered.

>" The ip address and hostnames will again get changed once the server are ready
to &e cutover for production$ at this point we will again need the naviagent
reinstalled and hosts deregistered and reregistered on VNX/Clariion$ the steps are

,or non/:%X hosts follow these steps
0ninstall the Navisphere agent from the host in ?uestion.
%hut down the host and remove it from the %torage @roup on the array.
+eregister the *AA entries for that host in Connectivity %tatus on the array.
Aring the host &ac7 up and re/install the Navisphere agent.
Chec7 Connectivity %tatus and ensure that the host has reregistered with
correct hostname and I. address.
Chec7 that arraycompath and failovermode are set correctly for the new
*AA registrations. 0se group edit to adBust if necessary.
Add the host &ac7 into the %torage @roup.
(escan or re&oot to cause the host to pic7 up the 10Ns again.
,or :%X host follow these steps
Note %tep ! Cuninstalling Navi Agent as is done for non/:%X hosts" is not
needed if the Navisphere agent is not installed Csince the agent is not
re?uired on :%X".
%hut down the host and remove it from the %torage @roup on the array.
+eregister the *AA entries for that host in Connectivity %tatus on the array.
8a7e sure the host is gone from the Connectivity %tatus dialog on the
array.
Aring the host &ac7 up.
Chec7 connectivity status and ensure that the host has reregistered with
correct hostname and I. address.
Chec7 that arraycompath and failovermode are set correctly for the new
*AA registrations. 0se group edit to adBust if necessary.
Add the host &ac7 into the %torage @roup.
(escan or re&oot to cause the host to pic7 up the 10Ns again.

CautionD This is a disruptive process.
