Dear Miriam,
I am writing this letter to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for your Ministr
which has been contributing food to help us serve those in need. In these times when it is
difficult for many, it sometimes even more difficult for us to be able to maintain enough
resources to help us prepare nutritious meals for the vulnerable community members thai
we "serve everyday.
The Drop-In and Food Access program operates six days of the week, preparing meals
and offering supports for basic needs to many people that include newcomers, young
adults, at-risk youth, people with addictions, mental health issues and single parents. Our
staff continuously is working hard to insure that the Member's are supported to better
their lives and to make better choices. On an average day, we will serve 120 people meal
and an additional 60-80 people will come and participate within the program that we
offer. As the season continues into harder times, it means we grow in number a little
more everyday.
Despite these hard times, we are happy to have partners in the work like you who are abl
to share the resources to influence the lives of these people that come into our program.
The encouragement that we receive when we receive the food is just as invaluable we
look forward to our continued partnership with Bread of Life Ministries.

I would like to personally thank the Bread of Life Ministries for your kind donation
of baked and prepared foods, which was dropped off to Good Shepherd by you and
Sharon foster on Friday, May 16th, 2008.
Your donation of baked goods such as the bread and pizza, and the prepared foods
helps our kitchen staff, which serves 750 healthy meals a day to those men and
women who turn to our Centre for their lunch and dinner meals. Your donation is
greatly appreciated by our staff and guests here at the Centre.
Thank you for joining Good Shepherd Centre as we work to serve those who struggle
with homelessness and poverty. Please be assured of the Brothers' prayers for the
staff of Bread of Life Ministries and all your loved ones.

Wow! We absolutely would have been remiss had we not acknowledged your unbelievably
generous contribution of buns and bagels to our school! I am writing this letter on behalf of
not only our 350 Shoreham students, but also on behalf of our staff and parent community.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness! Your heartfelt donation will
provide breakfast for many of our students who often (or always) come to school with
nothing in their tummies to stimulate their amazing brains. Some get dressed and ready for
school on their own and do not have the wherewithal to prepare their own breakfast, not
understanding its value and impact on their learning.
Many of our students (not all!) come from low socio-economic settings where their single
parents (usually mummies) struggle to make ends meet from month to month. Though many
schools in the TDSB were chosen for a breakfast program, unfortunately Shoreham was not
one of them. We have been trying for many years to find corporate sponsors to get
something going for our student's sake - but to no avail.
On behalf of all of us we would like to truly thank you and pray that many blessings will be
bestowed on your organization for choosing Shoreham Public School to benefit from your
Bread of Life Ministries! It only confirms our collective belief that there are still many
good people with good hearts in this world and that a little kindness goes a long way!
On a personal note, my grandmother always told me that there are two ways to live your life
... one is as though nothing is a miracle, and the other is as though EVERYTHING is a
miracle! Thanks for our little miracle!
God Bless!

Dear
According to Reader's Digest, there has been an unprecedented rise in the rate of
homelessness within Toronto in the past 20 years. Much of the rise has been among
youth under the age of 18 and families with children. The poverty level within Canada
on a whole is rising with many becoming dependent on assistance from food banks and
other social service agencies to meet their basic needs. Bread of Life Ministries seeks to
meet some of those needs within shelters, drop-in centres, and soup kitchens in Southern
Ontario by through collecting and distributing food from various businesses like yours.
Many businesses have perishable items that are still consumable but not saleable which
are discarded. As many of the frontline organizations that help those in need do not have
the time or the resources to collect from the many businesses that may have consumable
goods, Bread of Life provides a way to gather those goods to better distribute them
among those organizations. The more we're able to collect, the more organizations we'll
be able to feed.
However, today's tough economic conditions make it difficult for Bread of Life to meet
those needs without help from businesses like you. I am writing to invite your business to
support our work through donation of left-over food and/or assisting to meet some of our
operational costs. All food items will be collected by our volunteers and distributed to
various organizations like The Salvation Army, The Good Shepherd, Scott Missions, The
Yellow Brick House in Aurora, and many more. Currently, our volunteers make weekly
runs to various businesses. The businesses can also contact us if they have a surplus they
need to give away.
Thus far, our volunteers have collected food from various businesses such as Little
Caesars Pizza and Costco's, from Hamilton to Oshawa and up to Aurora. Every little bit
helps. Most items donated by businesses are compiled in our storage facilities in Toronto
prior distribution to the different organizations we partner with. When we have a large
donation from one area, we can often distribute the goods to organizations within that
area directly.
You can take pride in being a good corporate citizen by eliminating the additional waste
of food that could be used to feed those in need. Since our volunteers come to your
businesses to pick up the food, it further cuts down on costs for waste removal.
Please know that all contributions you make will positively impact various organizations
in your local community. I will follow up with you within the next two weeks to discuss
your possible donation. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of our request.
Sincerely,
Mirium Serwah
