Namakkal is a #istoric town wit# reference (ack to at least 7t# century. T#e name Namakkal deri3es
from Namagiri" w#ic# is t#e name of t#e single rock formation at t#e center of t#e town.Two ca3e
tem!les at Namakkal were called as 2diyendra %isnugr#a <anganat#a swamy Tem!le= and
2diyana3aya %isnugr#a <Narasim#a swamy Tem!le=.T#ese ock cut s#rines were (uilt (y &ing
+unaseela of 2d#iyaman clan descendant. >ecause of #is marriage relations wit# $alla3as t#e
tem!les were (uilt of $alla3a 2rc#itectural style during 7t# century. +enerally" Namakkal is
considered to (e a %ais#na3a &s#etram" and t#ere is no S#i3a tem!le in t#e town until a few years
ago. T#e rock is enormous - -5 meters #ig# and more t#an a kilometre in circumference. ;3er t#is
