Come all who want peace; come all who seek justice. God welcomes us here.
Come all who long to praise rowdily; come all who seek a quiet moment.

*The Opening Prayer:
God, we come each from our own heart journeys to this space, to encounter you and each other. God, we greet this new day, as we are open to all the potential it holds, and open to the community that surrounds us. God, we reach for the sky and gather your love. We push down and release all the tensions that keep us from being fully present to this time of worship, and we gather energy from all the things that ground us here. The time together God, we know, is a part of our heart story, as we pray to you, our heart prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven...
The Prayer of Dedication:
Life-giver, bless these gifts so they may be used to offer feast amidst famine, joy amidst pain, courage amidst fear. We pray in Jesus' name. AMEN!

We Support Each Other Since 2005, Mission and Service partner the National Council of Churches of Kenya has worked on an initiative focusing on women and children living in the slums of five cities in Kenya. Life in the slums is characterized by high levels of poverty, high crime rates, and high levels of illiteracy. One of the largest slums in the central region of Kenya is called Kiawara.
United Church staff recently visited a group of 12 women in Kiawara who, with the help of the council and the United Church, have improved their lives and those of their families through a microloan program. The women in the program had the following messages for the United Church:
Thank you for helping this program. All of us have developed our businesses and improved our lives. We are more independent now. And we support each other.
This program is much better than the banks. With the banks you have a high interest rate. You have to have collateral, and they will take peoples furniture and other belongings. Your husband has to go with you. You already have to have savings in the bank. With NCCK there isnt the same pressure. They will listen to you if there is an emergency. If you cant pay one week, you can double up the next week. They will loan you money for school fees for your children.
Your gifts for Mission and Service support women and children in the slums of Kenya. Please continue to give generously and compassionately.
Mighty and tender God, our gifts to M&S help your church to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with you.
