Introduction

Engineering simulation will play an increasingly larger role in technology development, creating a paradigm shift in drilling, production,
transport, and processing of hydrocarbon and alternative fuels. Today the industry applies solutions (including those from ANSYS) for product
and concept design - for example, new drilling technologies, high-pressure/high-temperature (HP/HT) well completion, flow assurance, floating
liquefied natural gas (FLNG) technology, offshore and subsea structures/equipment including subsea power, and enhanced oil recovery
applications. Similarly, engineers and researchers rely on simulation to develop new concepts in intervention, remote operations, and
increased use of composites materials, mooring, platform design, and pressure and flow control devices down-hole and on surface. Beyond
providing product and process development tools, simulation helps organization to be more productive, making good use of their engineering
knowledge and other simulation assets as well as offering efficiency at a time when the pool of qualified engineers is shrinking.
CAD-IT, the exclusive channel partner for ANSYS in South East Asia, is proud to bring you a two days advanced lecture series with special
focus on Hydrodynamics and Mooring Analyses, using the ANSYS Offshore Solutions in the ANSYS Workbench environment to anal yse
marine and offshore applications.

About the lecture
This exclusive advanced lecture will teach and share :
How complex mooring line analyses can be performed with the advanced features in ANSYS AQWA on the user-friendly ANSYS
Workbench environment
How to carry out hydrostatic and hydrodynamic calculations under the frequency and time domain environments
The understanding of various offshore sea loads (waves, wind and currents) in different applications and implementations
How to customize the advanced dynamic positioning control system for hydrodynamic stability using user-defined functions
How to take into account the viscous effects into nonlinear hydrodynamic offshore analyses with damping characteristics

How to access fatigue criteria occurred on hydrodynamic systems especially for jack-up structures
The understanding of the concept of pressure mapping and transferring the hydrodynamic results to the finite element code for stress
analyses for all types of offshore structures
How to employ the code checking tool for compliance to be automated for lattice structures in the oil and gas industries

About the speaker
Paul Schofield has a degree in civil engineering and has worked in the oil & gas industry for almost 30
years. In recent years, he has been involved in offshore alternative energy such as wind and wave devices.
He is also a member of Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).
Paul's current position at ANSYS, Inc is Principal Engineer and he is based in Houston as part of the
ANSYS South regional team. Paul provides pre-sales support for the Americas, Europe and Asia, assisting
with WebEx presentations, benchmark creation and technical product training.
Paul also works closely with the product development teams for the ANSYS Offshore products such as
ANSYS AQWA, which is used for hydrodynamics and mooring analyses

Paul has been conducting training in hydrodynamics analysis for more than 20 years, inclusive of his current role as principal engineer at
ANSYS, Inc. He has also interacted and helped to support marine/offshore customers internationally, and carries with him valuable insights of
what is happening in the industry and what companies are utilizing to meet design challenges and market demands.

Who should attend
Existing ANSYS AQWA users who are seeking to learn more about applying the software to their daily analyses, or engineers who would li ke
to explore alternative solutions for hydrodynamics and mooring analyses, this course is for you. Naval Architects and Project Managers in the
marine/offshore industry are also recommended to attend the course.
