What is Early Head Start?
Early Head Start offers in-home visiting services
to pregnant women and families with children ages 0 to 3.
We serve low-income families who receive other state
assistance as well as children who have developmental
delays or are in the foster care system.

Early Head Start helps families work with their children to meet
developmental milestones, provides support and connections to
community resources, offers support groups and family socializations, and
encourages the active involvement of fathers in their children's lives.

We partner with parents, recognizing parents are the primary
teachers for their children. Through our service, we strengthen the parent-child
relationship and help the family achieve goals through weekly home visits and
bimonthly group socializations.

Early Head Start has opened our
eyes and given us hope for our
entire family. The program has
helped us to be proactive about our
children's education. It has taught us
how we can expand our childrens
learning through everyday life
experiences. With Early Head Starts
support, we are setting goals and
raising our family to be self-sufficient.

Why Early Head Start?

According to a national study, parents who participate in
Early Head Start provide significantly more stimulating home
environments, participate in more bedtime reading and have greater
knowledge of child development. Parents also experience less
parenting stress and are more involved in educational and training
activities.
Children receiving home-based Early Head Start services at
24 months old show stronger vocabulary development and, at 36
months old, are more engaged with their parents during play
activities, a measure of their social-emotional development.
