Solution:

Clearly, the numbers which divided by 5 or 7 from 11 to 75 are 14, 15, 20, 21, 25, 28, 30, 35,

The number of such numbers = 20
Total numbers from 11 to 75 = 65
Then the required percentage = (20/65) x 100 = 30.76% = 31 %
Hence the answer is 31%


2) If A has weight 9kg more than B and his weight is 56% of the sum of their weights
then their weights are :

Answer: b) 33,42

Solution:


Let B's weight be X then A's weight is X+9.
And,
X+9 = 56% of X+X+9 = 56/100 (2X+9)
25(X+9)= 14(2X+9)
3X = 99 => X=33 and X+9 = 42
So, their weights are 33kg,42kg

3) Find the odd man out : 1900, 1876, 1855, 1837, 1821, 1810, 1801

Solution:

The above series is formed by subtracting multiples of 3 starting from 24 in reverse order.
1900 - 24 = 1876
1876 - 21 = 1855
1855 - 18 = 1837

The odd one is 1821 which has to be 1822.

The given series are in the following form,

5) Veer invested an amount of Rs.9000 for 2 years at a compound interest rate 15%

Solution:

When interest is compounded Annually, we have to use the following formula:

Amount = P x [1+ (R/100)]n where P = principal, R = rate of interest and n =
time(years) Here P = Rs.9000, R = 15%, n = 2 years.
Then, Amount= Rs.9000 x [1 + (15/100)]2 = 9000 x (23/20)2 = 23805/2 = Rs.11902.5

The amount obtained by the way of interest in compound interest = Amount - principal
= Rs.(11902.5 - 9000) = Rs.2902.50

Hence the required answer is Rs.2902.50


6) What is the difference between the compound interests on Rs.10,000 for 2 years at 5%
per annum compounded yearly and half-yearly?

Solution:

Here, P = Rs.10,000, n = 2 years, and R = 5%

Amount invested for compound interest (yearly) = Rs. 10000 x [1 + 5/100] = Rs.10000 x
21/20 = Rs.10,500
Amount invested for compound interest (Half-yearly) = Rs. 10000 x [1 +(5/2)/100]2 = 10000
x (41/40)2 = Rs.10,506.25

Difference = Rs.(10506.25-10500) = Rs.6.25

Assume that number of boys graduated from City High School = B
Therefore, number of girls graduated from City High School = 2*B

after graduation.
Hence, total students went to college
= (3/4)(2*B) + (5/6)(B)
= B * (3/2 + 5/6)
= (7/3)B
Fraction of the graduates that year went to college immediately after graduation
= [(7/3)B] / [3*B]
= 7/9
Therefore, the answer is 7/9

8) A mule and a donkey were carrying full sacks on their backs.The mule started complaining
that his load was too heavy. The donkey said to him "Why are you complaining? If you gave
me one of your sacks I'd have double what you have and if I give you one of my sacks we'd
have an even amount."How many sacks were each of them carrying? Give the minimal
possible answer.
Answer : The mule was carrying 5 sacks and the donkey was carrying 7 sacks.

9) There are 6561 balls out of them 1 is heavy.Find the min. no. of times the balls have to be

10) If i walk with 30 miles/hr i reach 1 hour before and if i walk with 20 miles/hr i reach 1 hour

the first time after the start of the race. All the runners have the same staring point and each
runner maintains a uniform speed throughout the race. If the fastest runner runs at twice the
speed of the slowest runner, what is the time taken by the fastest runner to finish the race?

Solution:
The ratio of the speeds of the fastest and the slowest runners is 2 : 1. Hence they should meet
at only one point on the circumference i.e. the starting point (As the difference in the
ratio in reduced form is 1). For the two of them to meet for the first time, the faster should have
completed one complete round over the slower one. Since the two of them meet for the first
time after 5 min, the faster one should have completed 2 rounds (i.e. 2000 m) and the slower
one should have completed 1 round. (i.e. 1000 m) in this time. Thus, the faster one would
complete the race (i.e. 4000 m) in 10 min.
