each household in streets designated as within residents parking zones. A household is a house or at in a Permit Parking zone that is registered for Council Tax, has appropriate planning permissions, and does not have a planning condition and/ or informative. Residents may be asked to demonstrate appropriate planning consents. Commercial vehicles are not eligible for resident permits. 2 First or Second YOU decide The rst permit for a household is issued free of charge. A charge of 80 is made for a second permit. It is up to YOU to decide who will apply for the rst and who will apply for the second permit. If more than one application for the rst permit is received it could delay your application. 3 Renewing Your Permit Permits are issued for twelve months, there are no zone renewal months. It will be up to you to renew your permit, as reminders may not be sent in the future. However, we have introduced an online system and you may be able to renew online before the permit expires. If you provide an email address, we may send you a reminder. However you must note the expiry date for your permit as it will be the permit holders responsibility to renew the permit. 4 Providing Proofs Along with the application form we need proof of current residence. That means a copy of ONE document which must be a bank statement / credit card / storecard statement or gas / electricity / telephone (Mobile phone bills are not accepted) / council tax bill, in your own name. The document must show you reside at that address. The document must be dated within four months of the application date. Copies of online versions of the above bills are acceptable as long as they show your name, address and date. We also need proof of vehicle ownership or entitlement to use the vehicle that will be identied on the permit. That means a copy of DVLA Registration document (V5C) or an insurance certicate / insurance schedule, which must show the address where the permit is applied for. If you are not the owner of the vehicle (e.g. company vehicle, lease car, rental car etc) a copy letter stating that you have a right to use the vehicle including documents that show you are insured to use the vehicle. Please make photocopies of your proof documents. We will accept original documents as proof but we cant return them. 5 Visitor Permits All households in residents parking zones are entitled to visitor permits. Visitor permits are scratch cards, each for half days. They are issued in books of 20 permits. The rst two books are issued free of charge. You can apply for a further ve books at a cost of 22 per book. You need to provide proof of residence when applying for visitor permits. Further visitors books above the 5 charged books specied above are available on request. Please complete a discretionary application form stating your reasons for the additional books. Please note that it is likely that any further books granted will be charged for and not provided free. 6 Temporary Resident permits Temporary permits may be needed if you change your vehicle, you have a temporary vehicle while your car is off the road or when you have just moved into a residents parking zone. Temporary permits are issued for 8-weeks, only one permit is issued. You must remember to apply for your full residents permit before your temporary permit expires. You must leave enough time for your application to be processed, minimum 28 days. Required Proofs for Temporary Permits For new vehicles: acceptable proofs are: a car sales invoice or temporary insurance cover note or the V5C/2 section of the DVLA registration document known as the New Keeper Supplement. Please note that if you already hold residents permits for your household and purchase a new vehicle before disposing of one of the existing, permit-holding vehicles, you cannot have a new permit for the new vehicle until you have surrendered one of the existing permits. During this time, you should make alternative arrangements for parking your vehicle outside of a permit parking zone or use your daily visitors permits. For temporary vehicles: You will need to provide proof of the temporary change, i.e.: hire/courtesy car agreement or letter of conrmation from the garage. For moving house: acceptable proofs of residence are: a mortgage offer letter, solicitors completion letter or tenancy agreement. N.B. Tenancy agreements are not acceptable proofs for a full permit. Acceptable proofs of vehicle ownership for moving into a property are: the DVLA reg- istration document or Insurance schedule/ certicate to show proof of ownership or entitlement to the use of the vehicle to be identied on the permit. 7 Payment Payments can be made by cheque, credit/debit card or by postal order.
