History report

With technology growing vastly with time, comparing the difference from TV shows in the sixties to
the ones we see today would be easy. Back in the sixties, there were on three channels, three, this
included ABC, CBS and NBC. Back then, they didnt know what cable TV was let alone realise the
wonders it could be in the future. Oh no. They had a large pair of rabbit wire antennas placed on the
top of the TV box. Yes, they had those bulky TV boxes. This worked hand in hand with the aerial
antenna, which was found in the roof of the house. Some towns depended on the local TV stations.
With having only three different channels, it allowed families to become closer. Very few had
coloured TVs, which was okay seeing that only a few shows were broadcasted in colour. In the
1960s, being a good actor was what got you to get on television. Nowadays, you just have to be
different and lucky. You often didnt need any real acting skills. Now to the TV shows. TV shows in
the 1960s were very family friendly, which meant very limited swearing and violence. TV shows were
usually talk shows and lifestyle shows. Famous shows you might have heard of include The Addams
family, Scooby Doo, the Brady Bunch, I dream of Jeannie, Star Trek and The Flintstones. Many of
these were either cartoons or sitcoms.
The Addams family is an American sitcom created by Charles Addams. With 64 episodes, this 60s TV
show is about an extended family that has quirky supernatural powers but is still technically
considered human beings. How their came to have those super powers was and still is a mystery
today. The Addams family is about a rich man and his family who live at 0001 Cemetery Lane in a
rather dim, scary looking mansion. This sitcom is humorous and originates from their cultural
aspects and living standards compared to the people who live around them. Characters include,
Gomez Addams, Morticia Frump, Wednesday, Pugsley and Uncle Fester. At first sight, this family
may seem sinister but in reality, they treat visitors with great warmth and courtesy, even though
their guests often are the ones with evil intentions. Near the end of the episode the family receive
an update of any sort on their most recent guest, as a result of their visit to the Addamss, the visitor
would be institutionalized, change professions, move out of the country, or have some other
negative life-changing event. The comical side of the show is when this misinterprets the news as a
positive outcome for their guest.
The theories behind Scooby doo, there are many theories behind the storyline of cartoon Scooby
Doo. Back in the sixties crime rates were increasing high, with protest and other factors. Many felt
that the cartoon TV show was a way for people in the war to feel safer with the crime rates rising.
People also felt having a show where the villains were always caught and turned out to be fakes
monster, and only white collared workers, allowed people to understand that the government had
somewhat to do with the problems and crimes uprising. Another less intense theory of the story
behind Scooby Doo is that the producers were in fact promoting drug use. Just like the Beatles, we
will get to that later. The theory was that Shaggy; a hippie-high school dropout spent his free time
getting high from drugs. Scooby Doo is real but he does not actually talk. It hallucinates from the
weed they did. As for Scooby Snacks, they were symbols of drugs. This explains why Scooby and
Shaggy get more courage after eating them because the drugs kick in. Shaggy and Scooby eat a ton,
and it is a cause of the munchies. Evidently, Shaggy falls in love with a girl named Mary Jane. Mary
Jane is a synonym to marijuana. However, as we all know Scooby Doo as groups of teens solving
mysteries.
The Brady Bunch is a well-known 60s TV show about a widowed architect with three boys who
married a single mother with three daughters. The two families became one c united family. The
family lived in a four-bedroom house in Los Angeles, in which the father had designed. Along with
the couple, another member of the Brady family was the fathers housekeeper, Alice Nelson, who
served as the family's housekeeper, Tiger the dog. Episode was about unity and sibling rivalry,
dating, misunderstandings, family vacations that occurred with this family.
