As he left, he tho$ght to himself, "(hat is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again." All the faces in the world are mirrors. 5hat kind of re2ections do yo$ see in the faces of the people yo$ meet% (he 6ocoon A man fo$nd the cocoon of a b$tter2y. One day a small opening appeared. )e sat and watched the b$tter2y for several ho$rs as it str$ggled to force its body thro$gh that little hole. (hen it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it co$ld and co$ld go no f$rther. So the man decided to help the b$tter2y. )e took a pair of scissors and snipped oG the remaining bit of the cocoon. (he b$tter2y then emerged easily. B$t it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. (he man contin$ed to watch the b$tter2y beca$se he e*pected that, at any moment, the wings wo$ld enlarge and e*pand to be able to s$pport the body, which wo$ld contract in time. Neither happened@ In fact, the b$tter2y spent the rest of its life crawling aro$nd with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to 2y. 5hat the man in his kindness and haste did not $nderstand was that the restricting cocoon and the str$ggle reE$ired for the b$tter2y to get thro$gh the tiny opening were -od.s way of forcing 2$id from the body of the b$tter2y into its wings so that it wo$ld be ready for 2ight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon. Sometimes str$ggles are e*actly what we need in o$r life. If -od allowed $s to go thro$gh o$r life witho$t any obstacles, it wo$ld cripple $s. 5e wo$ld not be as strong as we co$ld have been.
