WILLSEAL 600 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Important - Please Read!


GENERAL CONCEPTS:
willseal is a pre-compressed,
self-expanding foam joint
sealant tape. The product
thickness you see on the roll
is about 1/5 or !"#$ of it%s
natural, uncompressed si&e.
'hen it is released from the
roll and applied into a joint, it
will slowly expand and (ll the
joint. willseal is supplied with
a pressure sensiti)e adhesi)e
*+,$ on one side for ease of
installation.

clean of loose dirt and debris.

1) 8o not open rolls of
willseal until you are
ready to install them.
2) .emo)e and temporarily
sa)e$ the outer
paper/adhesi)e
surrounding the roll of
willseal. (Use the
paper/adhesive to tightly re-
wrap unused portions.)

4) <nwind a workable
amount of willseal from
the roll and remo)e the
release paper from the
*+, adhesi)e. 9onsider
working in short sections.
5) -egin at the bottom of
upright joints, and install
the willseal slightly inset
from the substrate
surface.
6) *lace willseal into the joint
and lightly press the *+,
adhesi)e against the side
of the substrate with your
hand or a putty knife. (I
ne!essary" pla!e wood shi#s
against the non-adhesive
side o the willseal to hold it
in pla!e. $he shi#s #ay %e
re#oved at any ti#e on!e
the willseal has e&panded.)
') 1nce willseal is properly
positioned, press the *+,
adhesi)e more (rmly into
place. Try to gradually
use an extra =; length of
product for e)ery >%
installed.

'illseal may take se)eral hours to expand in
cold temperatures. To expedite installation,
1ood s'#ms may be inserted against the
non-adhesi)e side of the willseal once it is
installed in the joint. The shims may be
remo)ed at any time once the foam has
expanded. 2f a)ailable, store the willseal in a
warm indoor$ en)ironment until you are
ready to install it.

'illseal may expand in minutes in hot
temperatures. 8o not open any rolls until
you are immediately ready to install them. 2f
a)ailable, store the willseal in a cool indoor$
en)ironment until you are ready to install it.

+imply match the straight, non-be)eled cut
ends of the willseal against each other in the
joint. ,llow for a little extra length to ensure
a positi)e seal.

2nstall willseal into the hori&ontal joints$ with
straight, non-be)eled cut ends lined up Fush
with the edge of the substrate or )ery
slightly o)er the edge$. Then install the
)ertical cross joint in one continuous piece.

9ut and butt willseal at corners, and install
similar to cross joints. 8o not pull willseal
around corners.

,t times the *+, adhesi)e on willseal may
not immediately stick to the substrate in wet
or cold installations. <se 1ood s'#ms to
hold the product in place until it expands to
(ll the joint. The shims may be remo)ed at
any time couple of hours, or e)en a day or
two$.

2n hot installations the *+, adhesi)e may
begin bonding to the joint substrates too
Iuickly. Eist spray, or splash, water onto the
substrate to delay the adhesi)e bond.

2t is not possible to re-compress willseal for
subseIuent use once it has expanded. 8o
not open the rolls until you are ready to
install them.$

'illseal may be repositioned in a joint by
using two putty kni)es. 2nsert each knife
between the willseal and the joint substrate
one knife on each side of the willseal$, and
reposition it accordingly. 8o not remo)e
willseal from the joint, and then attempt to
re-insert it.$
