A Can't-Fail Plan to Add Members
I write this fresh off the international convention in Toronto, and it's hard to appreciate how fun and exciting
a convention is unless you are there. Some 15,000 Lions packed the Air Canada Centre. They roared with
gusto when I and other speakers rhetorically asked Can we do it? or Are we up to the challenge? The
power of a crowd, of a group of people with a shared purpose, is inspiring. I am confident each Lion at the
convention is now willing and able to serve more capably and enthusiastically.
But what if we could rouse the same level of commitment in each of our 1.35 million members? What
could we accomplish if each Lion resolved to Strengthen the Pride by simply asking one person to join
their club? Imagine the huge impact that would have on membership growth and the amount of service we
can provide.
Often when I ask someone, Why aren't you a Lion? the response is I've never been asked. The beauty
of our association is everyone can be a Lion. You don't need to be a rocket scientist. You don't need a
college degree. You don't need to be wealthy. You don't need to have a certain body type. The single
most important trait in being a Lion is the desire to serve others. Surely, we all know plenty of people who
fit that bill.
October is New Membership Growth Month, and I'd like your club to set a goal of adding at least one new
member. New members bring fresh ideas, keep clubs healthy and increase your club's ability to serve.
When Lions sponsor and report a new member in October, they'll receive a Membership Growth Award
Pin. If your club adds new members in both October and April, it will receive a Membership Growth Award
Banner Patch.
Sure, it's not always easy to approach someone, knowing they could say no. But as Mark Zuckerberg, the
founder of Facebook, said, The biggest risk is not taking any risk. In a world that is changing really
quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks. So ask away and pave the way for a
future of new and expanded service.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched -
they must be felt with the heart.

The Lionistic year 2014-15 began with the installation of our
new team under the leadership of young and dynamic
President Lion Ramashankar Jhanwar.This isthe first E-
Bulletin that will be released by our club and a great
moment of celebration for all of us. With a sense of pride
we can say that our club is 32 yrs YOUNGand it is the
enthusiasm of our members that has led to all the
accolades and achievements. With great enthusiasm and
renewed commitment we serve the community year after
year.
Lions Club Of Churchgate is well known for its fellowship
and service projects.Even for this year the club has
performed many projects and many more have been
planned. I congratulate our president,secretary and
treasurer for performing the good work in the last few
months.
As a bulletin editor I would like to dwell upon

Officials rejected a candidate for a news broadcasters post
since his voice was not fit for a news broadcaster. He was
also told that with his obnoxiously long name, he would
never be famous. He is the great Amitabh Bachchan.
In 1962, four nervous young musicians played their first
record audition for the executives of the Decca Recording
Company. The executives were not impressed. While
turning down this group of musicians, one executive said,
"We don't like their sound. Groups of guitars are on the way
out."The group was called The Beatles!
In 1944, Emmeline Snively, director of the Blue Book
Modeling Agency told modeling hopeful Norma Jean Baker,
"You'd better learn secretarial work or else get married".
She went on and became Marilyn Monroe!
A small boy--the fifth amongst seven siblings of a poor
father, was selling newspapers in a small village to earn his
living. He was not exceptionally smart at school but was

When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in
1876, it did not ring off the hook with calls from potential
backers. After making a demonstration call, President

When Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, he
tried over 2000 experiments before he got it to work.
A young reporter asked him how it felt to fail so many
times. He said, "I never failed once. I invented the
light bulb. It just happened to be a 2000-step
process!
A schoolteacher scolded a boy for not paying
attention to his mathematics and for not being able to
solve simple problems. She told him that you would
not become anybody in life. The boy was Albert
Einstein!
The world is teeming with failures who've
became successful. Don't be disheartened if
you're going through a rough patch now; just grit
your teeth, strive on and join the gang of
successful failures..!

opportunity to release this E Bulletin.Also I

who have made it possible
I thank our Late founder President and Past

Dear Lion President Ramashankarji,
Congratulations on leading the Lions Club of Churchgate - one of the best clubs of our
District, as the President.
The Lions Club of Churchgate has always believed in and done need based service projects
and I take this opportunity to compliment all members for an excellent teamwork and commitment to serving the cause
of the community. This has brought laurels to the Club over the years and I do remember your visionary Charter
President Late Lion Dr. Kewal Jain who laid a strong foundation through excellent administrative and financial systems
in place.
Your Club has had an excellent track record of permanent landmark projects and with PDG Lion Dr. Bharat Parmar as
your member and guide, I am sure this year too your Club will rise above the horizon and set new frontiers in the areas
of service.
You must face every challenge and transform it into an opportunity. The only way is forward with focus and
determination on bringing in the youth and women into our fold that will open new avenues. Have a membership
development plan and leadership development plan- one that is unique to your Club and the community.
We have already commenced on our Centennial Service Challenge from July 2014 and before we conclude in Dec
2017 we have to initiate and complete new projects that will enhance our Lions Image and Strengthen our Pride. Be a
Champion of Change and get going.

First of all I would like to congratulate our dynamic Bulletin Editor Lion Aamir Katib for accepting this
challenging task of releasing the First Issue of E-Bulletin of our club for the lionistic year 2014-2015 on
th
18 September 2014.
It is an honour and privilege to be the president of LIONS CLUB OF CHURCHGATE which has an
outstanding performance year after year in the District. In our club there is an atmosphere of a single
family ; the members have very high team spirit and work towards the sole aim TO SERVE, which has
resulted in our success in the last 32 years. The Signature and Permanent projects are the prestige of
Lions Club Of Churchgate,they all have been performed with the support of our charitable members ,who
have always kept their pockets open and pushed our aims further. Past Presidents are the backbone of
our club ,who never loose interest and are always present to help and advice us at each step.
The Foundation Stone was laid by the our late Past District Governor Lion Dr.Kewal P. Jain, who was
involved in all activities of the club Dil Se and we cannot forget our other Past District Governor Lion
Dr. Bharat Parmar (M.J.F.) whose WINGS OF FURTHURING OTHERS DREAMS and our dynamic Past
District Governor Lion Hemant Shah who are always present to guide us at all time day and night.
At this time let us press ahead as NOW OR NEVER and breakout ,change and push ahead through
TRANSPERENCY FOR CHANGE in line with our District Governor's motto of CHAMPIONS OF
CHANGE .Let us forget the letter Iand say only WE.With your participation we shall work wonders.
Friends the first two months were of planning the administration and fellowhip, and success was ours
with your support. Now let us rise as A TEAM with A SINGLE AIM TO SERVE and with a humble request
to all you members to donate generously ,to reach our goals and strengthen the corpus funds to make
THE OCTOBER SERVICE WEEK a grand success.
