Since theology breedsmethodology, it will be valuable for us to shapea


biblical view of the cell group church.'W'emust begin by recognizingthat
the primary assignment in a cell group church is to develop "Basic
Christian Communities." \fhen we understand this, we become
dissatisfiedwith groups that serveas a "gimmick," an optiond feature,or
a "quick fix" for saggingattendance.
Becausecommunity can occur most completely only in small groups,
a cell group, numbering lessthan 15 people, is all important. Essential
elementsof community include interpersonal commitments and a sense
of belonging. Community takes place when there is a shared life,
allowing common goals and commitments to develop benveenall of its
mcmbers.
