There ere so many e.traordinary aspects to those times ith Shri
!ata(i in the early days# 'n some moments She rapped us all so
e.pertly in /er maya and "play" it as indeed possible to become
totally rela.ed% sept up in the feeling% that to be in /er company
as the most normal% natural e.perience and it as perfectly 01 to
chat% (oke% e$en atch tele$ision ith /er% or sip Cokes and eat
samosas# But there ere other times hen in an instant% She became the
2oddess% and promoted the deepest feelings of complete humility%
gratitude and an astounded sense that e ere in the presence of an
absolutely 3i$ine personality# 0ne time e ere looking at some early
photos ith !other# There as one% a $ery soulful looking portrait%
taken of /er in the early 4567s% a beautiful black and hite image# '
remarked on hat a lo$ely photo it as , ' think it as the one of
!other standing by a beach in a hite sari#
'This photo was taken after I opened the collective Sahasrara Chakra.
In this photo I even look a bit sad,' Shri Mataji said when She looked at it.

She alays felt confident that hen the time came She ould be able to
find a ay to do the ork of sa$ing us all# She described to us both
ho it as only hen She ga8ed inside the collecti$e Sahasrara and sa
the tisted and tangled nadis there that re$ealed all the problems of
the human condition% that She reali8ed ho hard the (ob ould be% and
ho complicated% and damaged the human race had become# 't as these
emotions , this reali8ation% of the huge task that lay ahead , that
She sa reflected on /er face in that early photo# There as nothing
that either 3anya or myself could say after this# 9ll e could do as
sit in silence feeling such profound gratitude for !other"s ama8ing
compassion , /er ability to take on impossible burdens so that all of
us could transcend and li$e better li$es#
