electric sunroof almost 80CM long, so everyone in

five people on board youre surrounded by space.
The quality and finish of the materials has been chosen to delight all your senses. From chrome to leather,

The new X-Trail cleverly stretches inner space within the external dimensions of a conventional family car. Expanding from 603 to
1773L, the trunk is the biggest in its class and easily able to take your biggest loads. It includes a unique innovation: Super Luggage,
an extraordinary versatile double deck trunk incorporating a double oor and specially designed drawer. With so many possible
congurations, one of which is sure to match whatever you need today.
EXPAND AND ADAPT
With all the rear seats in place, theres ample room
on board for five adults and all their luggage. Plus
you have the flexibility of the Super Luggage system,
with its clever drawer and lifting top floor, which
gives you access to more hidden storage space.
The rear seat adapts to every situation. You can fold
it 40/20/40; for example just folding the centre arm-
rest, to carry long items such as a sport bow or kite.
Fold one seat, or one seat and the centre armrest,
and you can still comfortably accommodate a rear
passenger. And if you need even more length when
the back seat is folded, the cushions are removable.
The rear seat can be completely folded, creating a
true flat floor more than 1700MM long. The drawer
and hidden under-floor compartment are still acces-
sible, and thoroughly practical. The huge glovebox which offers
heating and cooling functions, gives
you more than 13L of storage.
The storage space under the
central front armrest can take
7CDs and has dedicated storage
space for an i-Pod.
Rear passengers can store 2 bottles in
the centre console.
At the front, the top panel box can hold
up to 7 CDs or a full-size tissue box.
Now your sunglasses are safe and easy to reach,
in this clever sunglasses holder placed conveniently
above you in the roof console.
The backseat pockets are big enough
for lots of magazines, CDs and your
other indispensable travelling items.

ALL MODE 4x4-i introduces one of the 4x4 worlds most sensational advances, with Predictive Mode. ALL MODE
4x4-i anticipates the risk of wheel spin and automatically transfers torque to prevent it happening. The new
X-TRAIL doesnt slip or slide when you pull away, take tight corners or drive on slippery ground so your
experience is safer and more satisfying.
The new X-TRAIL is a true 4x4, but its more than that, thanks to the ingenious ALL MODE
4x4-i, and thanks to the braked LSD, power is transmitted to the wheels with more grip. The
power distribution ranges from 100% front wheel drive, to 50/50 front/rear, depending on
X-TRAILs assessment of the terrain and the grip at each wheel. Instant power and control
in any situation, plus exceptional agility make up new X-TRAILs DNA.
ALL MODE 4x4-i is based on the interaction between the sensors, wheels, ABS and ESP. First, the G sensor
continuously assesses the effect of acceleration, turning and sideways. Second, the steering wheel angle
sensor checks your steering input, and predicts the intended trajectory. All this data is analysed in fractions
of a second, so the system instantly knows if the vehicle will understeer (drift towards the outside of the
curve) or oversteer (cut into the inside). It then distributes torque between the front and rear axles, and
brakes each wheel individually to keep the car going exactly where you intended.
You wont feel it working, but you will feel the benefits: tactile, informative steering feedback and
consistently agile, dynamic and responsive handling thats fun and fills you with confidence.
Slippery corners hold no fear with ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), a key part of
the ALL MODE 4x4-i system. Integrated with X-TRAILs 4-wheel drive, ABS and sensors
that are in touch with all of its vital organs, the system ensures your input at the steering
wheel is matched by what happens on or off road.

SUPPORT
USS detects when X-TRAIL is on an uphill incline of more than 10%. Once stopped, just release the brakes: the
car stays right where it is. To start again, press the accelerator and it carries on up the hill. The system even
works in reverse, for example when you want to back into a space on a steep downhill gradient. Reassuringly,
USS is available with manual, CVT and automatic gearboxes.
Remember the challenge of hill starts when you first learned to drive? New X-TRAIL makes
sure you never have to think about coordinating hand brake, clutch and accelerator, ever
again. As part of ALL MODE 4x4-i, X-TRAIL equipped with Uphill Start Support (USS) a
new, completely automatic system that ensures X-TRAIL drives smoothly away on a steep
slope, with no human intervention and without rolling back!
Simply turn the ALL MODE 4x4-i switch to LOCK, press the DDS button on the central console and the system
will control the car at a constant low speed (around 7kph). You just steer theres no need to touch the brakes
or the accelerator, and because youre not constantly riding the brakes, you wont experience brake fade or lock
the wheels. And at all times, you stay in control since you can override the system by switching off DDS. It also
works in reverse even better!
Until now, controlling even the best off-roader on very steep descents could be difficult or
dangerous. Now Downhill Drive Support (DDS), one of the new ALL MODE 4x4-i features,
takes care of it for you.
