From the In looking over this week's newsleter, you'll fnd a wide range of excitng programs and opportunites to atend or apply for. Here are a few high- lights:
* The Clemson Writng Fellows Program is now acceptng applicants (see page 5). If you love to write, and want to help others improve their writng, this program might be for you.
* Be sure to atend the Educatonal Enrichment Travel Grants (EETG) poster forum tomorrow (see right). This is a great chance to learn more about what your Honors friends did last summer, and to get ideas for where you could go with an EETG next year.
* There are lectures both this week and next--on Thursday, William Egging- ton speaks on Cervantes, "The Man Who Invented Ficton." And next week, our Thoughts Worth Thinking series resumes with Dr. Sarah Juliet Lauro's talk on "Sweet Revenge: Sugar, Hait, Voodoo, Zombies."
* Finally, it's tme to think about the Goldwater Scholarship (for sopho- mores and juniors pursuing a STEM-based research career) and the Truman Scholarship (for juniors interested in public service). Truman Scholarships If you are currently a junior who is commited to public service leadership, you might want to apply for the Truman Scholarship. Established in honor of our 33rd president, Truman Scholarships are awarded to students who wish to atend graduate school in preparaton for careers in government or elsewhere in public service. The Truman Founda- ton seeks future change agents who aspire to leadership positons in federal, state, or local government or in the not-for-proft and educaton sectors where they can infuence public policies and change public programs. Scholars are awarded $30,000 for graduate work and partcipate in workshops and internship programs organized by the Tru- man Foundaton. Candidates must be US citzens and be juniors (or seniors in their third year of college enrollment). Approximately 75 scholarships are awarded annually.
