However, securing these communications requires a solution
that extends existing wireline VPN infrastructures to the
mobile device. Strong security is especially important for wire-
less environments that can be compromised through weak-
nesses in wireless networking protocols.

NetScreen VPN gateway, enables enterprises to easily address
these security concerns. movianVPN is based on the IPSec
standard, the most mature IP based VPN protocol available,
ensuring that the VPN remains trusted and secure.
When launched, movianVPN connects with a local wireless
data carrier. From there, a secure connection is established
with the organizations Juniper Networks VPN gateway across
the Internet. It all takes place in real time with no impact on
the user, so that data can be exchanged securely between the
handheld and the corporate network
For larger enterprises, movianVPN can be used in conjunction
with movian Deployment Manager. movianDM provides the
ability to create unique connection policies and reduce the
cost and complexity of deploying movianVPN to a variety of
handheld devices.

Supports multiple authentication options
movian VPNcan work with existing authentication, with
support for a variety of user authentication mechanisms,
including SecurID RADIUS and other one-time password
schemes, PKI and Digital Certificates, and Pre-shared
secrets.
Support for a wide range of devices and platforms
movianVPN has been tested with a wide range of devices
on platforms including Palm OS, Symbian OS, and
Microsoft Windows CE 3.0 (PocketPC 2002, Handheld PC
2000, PocketPC v.3).
Support for multiple connectivity options
movianVPN supports multiple connectivity options includ-
ing CDPD, CDMA, iDEN, 1xRTT, GPRS, GSM, TDMA, 802.11,
and Bluetooth.
Conforms to government security standards
The FIPS 140-2 standard has been adopted by the US and
Canadian governments to ensure that security solutions
they use meet a high standard. movianVPN GSE provides
ultimate security by meeting the FIPS 140-2 standard, and
supporting the credentials stored on Department of Defense
Common Access Card.
