A Resolution Calling the Buklod Atenista Member Schools to Consolidate Efforts with the
Ateneans for Agrarian Reform Movement (AFARM) and the KILUS Magniniyog in line with
the KM 71 March for the Coco Levy Fund Scam
Status: Approved
WHEREAS, under the Preamble of the 2013 Buklod Atenista Constitution it states that Ateneo de
respect for humanity, dignity, freedom, justice, and service to our fellow men and women must
at all times be held and propagated;
WHEREAS, Article II, Section 2 of the same constitution provides that nationalism be inculcated
in all Ateneans;
WHEREAS, Article II, Section 3b of the same constitution declares that education should be
WHEREAS, 24% of the Coconut Industry Investment Fund - San Miguel Corporation (CIIF-SMC)
shares worth 71 billion pesos was declared a public fund by the Supreme Court in 2012 to be
used only for the benefit of the coconut farmers and the development of the coconut industry1;
WHEREAS, the coconut farmers have not yet benefited from the 71 billion pesos, excluding the
interest recovered from the coco levy fund in 2012;
WHEREAS, the 3.5 million coconut farmers are among the poorest farmers in the country,
according to the National Anti-Poverty Commission;
WHEREAS, the Buklod Atenista recognizes that AFARM is mobilizing in support of the KILUS
Magniniyog 71 March (KM 71) by KILUS Magniniyog;
WHEREFORE, be it resolved, that the universities supporting this resolution shall agree on the set
of activities done in dates determined by these universities on or before November 26, 2014,
which include, but are not limited to:
Action Point 1: Awareness campaign done by each university through for and all
forms of media possible, most especially the social networking sites
1.1 A week-long Coco Levy Booth where student governments can
distribute fliers.
1.2 Countdown Tarpaulins before the farmers arrive to Malacaang and
other forms of information campaigns.
Action Point 2: Hold a donation Drive (Pledge P71) in which the proceeds will be
remitted to KILUS Magniniyog.
Action Point 3: A signature campaign per school shall be done through the
mechanisms provided by AFARM.
Action Point 4: Buklod Atenistas member-schools will co-sign the manifesto
given by AFARM.

WHEREFORE, be it further resolved, that Buklod Atenista will acquire a liquidation report from
the KILUS Magniniyog before January 2015;
WHEREFORE, BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that this resolution be approved with a two-thirds
majority votes from the National Congress.
