EXT. SPACE - EARTH ORBIT

A space station dubbed MILK BONE drifts.
OPPOSITE THE SPACE STATION
A tiny spec appears and grows larger.
INT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE - CONTROL CENTER
Anthropomorphic animals are at work stations, mainly
different breeds of dog. The station commander goes over to
the main screen.
STATION COMMANDER
What do you have?
COMM SCAN 1
I'm picking up a boogie. It was
coming in fast, but now it's
slowing down.
STATION COMMANDER
Do you think it may be hostile?
COMM SCAN 1
I don't know, sir.
STATION COMMANDER
Give me visual.
The front of a LARGE VESSEL stares back at them.
COMMANDER
What is that?
COMM SCAN 1
It looks like a ship.
COMMANDER
It's gotta be over one hundred
feet long.
TACTICAL ANALIST
Actually, its forty-five point
seventy-two meters.
SPACE
The flagship kills its engines.

INT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE - CONTROL CENTER
TACTICAL ANALIST
Sir, the vessel has come to full
stop.
STATION COMMANDER
Comm, open up a channel.
It's open.

COMM SCAN 2

STATION COMMANDER
Listen, whoever you are, you're
in restricted space. You will
remove your vessel from this
planet's orbit at once.
They wait.
STATION COMMANDER
Open missile bays.
Aye, sir.

TACTICAL ANALIST

EXT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE

Silo doors open exposing warheads.
INT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE - CONTROL CENTER
STATION COMMANDER
Attention, hostile aliens, this
is your last verbal warning.
Leave this sector of space or
float home.
EXT. ALIEN FLAGSHIP
Laser cannons emerge from the bow.
INT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE - CONTROL CENTER
TACTICAL ANALIST
The alien vessel is spinning up
its weapons.
STATION COMMANDER
What can you tell me about the
alien vessel?
TACTICAL ANALIST
Well, it's not looking good for us.

STATION COMMANDER

TACTICAL ANALIST
Its weapons are far more advanced
than ours. It seems to have an
internal secondary structure.
STATION COMMANDER
Any luck with the helm?
Nothing.

STATION COMMANDER
What are the odds they'll stri-TACTICAL ANALIST
Sir, projectiles have been fired!
SPACE
A laser beams shoot out of the starboard side of the bow
followed some on the larboard side.
INT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE - CONTROL CENTER
STATION COMMANDER
How long before impact?
TACTICAL ANALIST
They're not firing at us, sir.
SPACE
The laser beams destroy several satellites.
INT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE - CONTROL CENTER
Report.

STATION COMMANDER

TACTICAL ANALIST
We've lost all communication with
the space port on earth.
STATION COMMANDER
(to comm)
Pinpoint a satellite on the other
side of the planet. Get me a
direct line to General Meyeway.
Aye, sir.

COMM SCAN 1

4.
The commander goes to a work station.
STATION COMMANDER
Fire on my command.
TACTICAL ANALIST
Sir, you need permission from the
General.
STATION COMMANDER
I'm not going to just sit here
and wait for that thing to fire
on us.
TACTICAL ANALIST
But it poses no threat. It didn't
fire at us.
STATION COMMANDER
It knocked down our satellites.
(grips firing trigger)
I'm not waiting another second.
(presses button)
FIRE!
EXT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE
Warheads shot out of the silos and streak toward the alien
vessel. Several explosions occur, followed by a shock wave
that shakes the station.
INT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE - CONTROL CENTER
STATION COMMANDER

Report.
Stand by.
Well?

TACTICAL ANALIST

STATION COMMANDER
Did we destroy it?

The alien vessel is still on screen.

Negative.
it.

TACTICAL ANALIST
We didn't even scratch

STATION COMMANDER
It must have an invisible shield.
TACTICAL ANALIST
Sir, the vessel is calibrating
its weapons.

Sir, we're being hailed.
On screen.

STATION COMMANDER

COMM SCAN 1
It's only an audio channel.
The PA blares feedback.
over the loudspeakers.

A baritone, metallic voice rumbles

ALIEN VOICE (OS)

I did not come here to fight. I
have done tactical scans of your
entire station. Any attempt to
fire on us again, will result in
immediate retaliation.
Who are you?

STATION COMMANDER

ALIEN VOICE (OS)

It is not a question of who I am.
The question is: what have I come
for?
STATION COMMANDER
Well, what do you want?
ALIEN VOICE (OS)
I come in search of a rare and
powerful object. I have traveled
halfway across the cosmos and its
energy emissions have led me here.
What object?

STATION COMMANDER

ALIEN VOICE (OS)

It is an ornament of raw power.
I have spend most of my adult
life looking for it, and now I
know it is on the surface of the
planet your puny station orbits.
STATION COMMANDER
Just tell me what it is you want.
ALIEN VOICE (OS)
Where I come from it is called
the kardiogleam. But your world
knows it as the Heart.

STATION COMMANDER
(to himself)
The Heart?
TACTICAL ANALIST
I know what he's talking about.
The Heart is the Hub of Lite.
The Supreme Leader carries it.
ALIEN VOICE (OS)
So it is on that planet.
Yes, it is.

STATION COMMANDER
But this is as far

ALIEN VOICE (OS)

I'm giving you a chance to save
the lives of yourself and your
crew. Send for this Supreme
Leader. If he gives me the Heart
and I will let all of you to live.
(pause)
You have ten seconds to decide.
STATION COMMANDER
This is nonsense.
(to Analist)
Prepare to fire.
ALIEN VOICE (OS)
Don't be a fool, Commander. Or
you and your crew will be--what
was it you said?--floating home.
COMM SCAN 1
Sir, I sent an urgent message to
a satellite on the other side of
the planet. But there's delay.

STATION COMMANDER

Twelve hours.
The commander picks up the firing trigger.
STATION COMMANDER
Enough of this. Open fire.
TACTICAL ANALIST
Sir, our weapons are ineffective.

STATION COMMANDER

Fire!

EXT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE

Warheads fire. Lasers from the alien vessel wipe out the
approaching warheads.
INT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE - CONTROL CENTER
TACTICAL ANALIST
That's it, sir. We're out of
warheads.
ALIEN VOICE (OS)
Your time is up, Commander. Good
bye.
The audio feed cuts.
EXT. SPACE
The huge flagship moves toward the smaller station.
INT. SPACE STATION MILKBONE - CONTROL CENTER
The commander drops the firing trigger. People begin to
clamor and yell as the bow of the vessel comes closer and
closer on main screen.
EXT. SPACE
The flagship rams the space station and tears through it.
Large pieces of debris are thrust toward earth. The flagship
heads in the direction of the space station debris.
KARYOGUISE
OPENING CREDITS
EXT. VIVID CITY - MORNING
The brightest burg in the world is also the busiest.
NARRATOR (VO)
Welcome to Vivid City, a place of
truth and justice and also deceit
and crime.
Commuters drive.

Pedestrians work.

NARRATOR (VO)
Pieces of space station debris
have fallen from the sky on the
outskirts of the city.
EXT. CITY HALL - MORNING
NARRATOR (VO)
The Mayor has called upon three
figure heads to investigate the
reason for the falling debris, an
investigation that will a uncover
a sinister plot nearly three
decades in the making.
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - MORNING
Before Mayor What's desk is CHIEF BEAKER of the Vivid City
Police, DR. ORION ORYX of L.I.T.E. and GENERAL MEYEWAY.
MAYOR WHAT
As you all know, the space station
Milkbone has been destroyed.
MEYEWAY
There's nothing better than
listening to stale news.
MAYOR WHAT
Cut the crap, General.
(shows paper)
We only received the space
station's SOS this morning. If
we didn't have these crappy time
zones in place, we would have
gotten in sooner.
Hey!

CHIEF BEAKER
Your Honor, the General is in
charge of the space program. You
don't need me here.
MAYOR WHAT
That's what you think, Mister
Crappy Pants. I need your cops
to seal off that area ASAP.
They're like underpaid security
guards anyway, so they'll fit
right in.
MEYEWAY
Your Honor, I suggest we put the
city on full alert. We must be
prepared for the worst.

I say when this thing goes down,
Dr. Strange-crap. I need your
soldiers to help cover up top
secret crap that we don't want
the public knowing about.
The Mayor goes to the window.
EXT. CITY HALL - MORNING
A podium with a huge banner is outside.

I've got this unveiling ceremony
to do this afternoon.
There is a large drape over a tall object.
INT. MAYOR'S OFFICE - MORNING
MAYOR WHAT
Gotta make it look like
everything's okay. Last thing we
need here is mass panic.
The Mayor looks to Oryx.
MAYOR WHAT
I know you have to leave, Doc.
Gotta see your friend off to
college, eh?
Oryx stares at the SOS message.
MAYOR WHAT
You're awful quiet.
ORYX
This SOS message says something
about a flagship.
MAYOR WHAT
Wait. Is that like a ship with a
flag on it? Or is it like
something used to ship flags?
ORYX
It was an alien vessel. If it
knocked out most of our satellites
so the station couldn't call for
help, I'm almost certain that the
vessel is on it's way here.

MAYOR WHAT
Why the crap would it come here?
Oryx holds up the printout and points to the bottom.
ORYX
Somebody's after the Heart.
On the page it reads: ...THE HUB OF LITE...
EXT. APARTMENT BUILDING - DAY
A van with LITE on it pulls up.

Oryx gets out.

INT. APARTMENT BUILDING - DAY

Ms Lott waves Oryx in.
MS. LOTT
Why, hello Doctor. Are you here
to see Kenny off the colllege?
Yes.

MS. LOTT
