Distress over inding out

information about employer
beneits for maternity leave
WOMEN workers are struggling to find
details of their employers maternity
package, which is causing a great deal
of distress, new research has revealed.
Only a third of female employees were
given information about maternity benefits when they started their current job,
said jobs site Glassdoor.
A survey of 1,000 working women
showed two out of five said information was difficult to find, with 13 per
cent having to ask because nothing was
published within the business.
More than two out of five were worried
their boss would think they were pregnant if they asked for information, while
one in five feared they would be putting

themselves at risk of redundancy.

Four out of five said asking for information about maternity benefits during
a job interview would jeopardise their
chances of being hired, and most said
it was easier to ask about holidays, pensions or healthcare.
The poll of 500 women who had already
taken maternity leave, and 500 planning to do so in the future, showed most
would pass their probationary period
before asking their manager for information.
Jon Ingham, of Glassdoor, said: There
are more than 13 million women in the
workplace and amongst these more than
five million are working mums. These

women are an important part of UK

businesses so it seems pretty shortsighted to keep maternity benefit details
under lock and key.
A more honest and open attitude towards maternity benefits could improve
the quality of candidates looking to
work at your organisation. It may not be
an intentional decision for employers
to keep this information from female
employees, however forcing them to ask
for it is clearly causing a great deal of
distress for many women in the workplace.
Transparency around benefits in the
workplace can actually build greater
trust.

We currently have a vacancy within our successful Telesales Team for a
full time Telesales executive, working 37.5 hours per week.
The Role
Working towards an individual sales target you will be expected to be
resourceful and self motivated. Sourcing and canvassing new clients to
introduce to our portfolio and in-turn being proactive and creative in nding
solutions to their advertising and marketing needs. This will run in sync with
the ongoing management of existing, established clients, ensuring they are
receiving the best possible value from our product portfolio. You will also be
expected to share best practices and new ideas with your peers within the
Telesales team with a view to formation of new marketing solutions for our
clients.
The Person
As a Telesales Executive you will need to be self motivated and driven
towards achieving revenue targets. Condence in working under your own
initiative is essential, although there will be occasions that you are required
to work on team projects.
Time management is key to this role, along with being able to adhere to
rigid deadlines. Previous sales and/or customer service experience could be
advantageous, although this is not an essential requirement as a comprehensive
training programme is in place. A good telephone manner coupled with
ability to communicate clearly and concisely is fundamental to this role.
The Package
In return the successful candidate can expect to receive:
