SENIORS

As scholarship information becomes available to you please remember: NEVER pay money
to apply to receive FREE money. That means dont pay anyone to do scholarship searches
for you! Any questions please see Ms. Loving.

STUDENTS

Volleyball/Tennis and Cross Country: If you have a varsity locker, PLEASE turn it in by
Monday 11/17/14! We have Winter Athletes needing lockers!

SENIORS

If you completed the on-line application for Reedley College/Fresno City College; you will be
receiving an email from SCCCD (State Center Community College District) with instructions
that you will need to follow for completing the On-line orientation, DO NOT DELETE! The
on-line orientation is open. PLEASE check your email daily. Email is the #1 form of
communication that colleges use. Any questions or if you need help see Ms. Loving.

CLASS SHIRTS

Class shirts are available for purchase while supplies last. You can purchase your shirt in
the finance office for $13 and then bring your receipt to room 1005. Sizes and quantities
are limited so get them while they are here.

SENIORS

It is extremely IMPORTANT that we have your social security number in our records ASAP if
we dont already have it. You being eligible to receive FREE money for college will be in
jeopardy! If you have a social security number please come and see Ms. Loving to make
sure that we have it in our system. If you are unsure or you have any questions Ms. Loving
will help you.

LIBRARY

Ever wanted to be President for a day? Log on to the SHS library webpage this month to try
your luck on being commander-in-chief. In the Executive Command on-line game, you can
be President for four years! Check it out!

YEARBOOK

Attention all students: if you have not yet purchased a yearbook, but would still like to buy
one, the Magnet staff will be having a yearbook sale next Wednesday, November 19th
through Friday, November 21st during lunch and after school in room 2307. The cost of the
book is $80, but we will also be accepting deposits of $40 with the remaining amount to be
paid off in May. Only cash and checks will be accepted. See Ms. Luviano in room 2307 with
any questions.

activities are offered to all eligible students during extended lunch:
Scrapbooking in room 705 with Mrs.Thornburg

Please be respectful of the NO cell phone & IPOD rule from 8 AM 3:30 PM. If your cell
phone is confiscated; A Parent/guardian must come to Selma High to pick up the item. No
excuses. Please be respectful of the Selma High School Rules.

CANNED FOOD
DRIVE

Our annual Canned Food Drive started Monday, November 3 through November 20th in all
1st period classes. All cans will be donated to New Hope Church who will in turn donate to
Selma families in need. Like always, we will award the class with the highest can per
student ratio with a pizza party. Cans are worth 1 point and Top Ramen is 10 for 1
point. The absolute last day to bring a can will be Thursday, November 20 in 1 st
period. Also, every box you bring in for the cans is worth 2 points per class. We need
boxes!! Lets do our part and help those in the community that need it most.

LINK LEADERS

Attention link leaders, pick up your permission slip to attend the Student Link Conference on
November 20th- Take advantage of this opportunity to meet and get to know link leaders
from all over the valley! Permission slips can be picked up in room 809. We can only take
the first 40 students to turn in their slip.

ALL STUDENTS

Please use the crosswalk at all times. Especially before school and after school. Wright
Street is particularly busy with the usual congestion of cars and buses. The pedestrian
crossing is there to keep us safe.

ALL STUDENTS

Girls Soccer team is selling Deep Pit BBQ Dinners, Nov 10-18 $10.00 per dinner. Each
dinner includes a portion of Deep Pit Beef, Rice Pilaf, Green Beans, and a Roll. Drive-Thru
Dinner Pickup in the SHS Dining Hall on Nov 20th 4-6:00pm. All players will be selling
tickets, Along with Coach Vivian. Email: jvivian@selmausd.org

LIBRARY

International Gaming Day: So you think youve got game? Read, learn and play during
International Games Day @ your library tomorrow SHS library will join thousands of libraries
in celebrating the popularity of board and video games during lunch. Play some games and
have loads of fun!!

ALL STUDENTS

Have you checked your school email? Important school information, including extended
lunch tutorial assignments, will be sent to your school email. If you havent logged in this
year its never too late to start.

SADIE HAWKINS

Attention all ladies... It's time to start thinking about who you'd like to ask to Sadie's! The
class of 2018 is excited to host this years "Sadie's Goes 80's" at Cal Skate in Clovis on
Friday, November 21 from 9:30pm to midnight. Tickets are available for purchase during
lunch. Get your date lines up because this is one event you won't want to miss!

HIA

Hispanics in Action members will meet Tuesday, November 18th, @ 12:10 pm in room 409
to discuss our first fundraiser. Any students interested in joining are welcome to attend.

GIRLS SOCCER

If you have just finished another sport, you can still tryout. Make sure you get out as soon
as possible so we can finalize our rosters. See you on the field.

10th, 11th&12th

If youre interested in taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude test ASVAB, Please
sign up in the student office. What is the ASVAB test? The Armed Services Vocation
Aptitude Battery is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test batter in the world. As an
aptitude test, the ASVAB measures you strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future
success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and
military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether you choose
to go to college, vocational school or a military career. Signing up to take the ASVAB Exam
does not mean you will be signing up for the military. The exam will take place on
November 19th in the dining hall. If youre interested please sign up in the student office or
see Mr. Collazo for more information, space is limited to only 150 students.

CSU APPLICATIONS Seniors; if you havent applied to a CSU or you need help finishing your CSU application, our
CSU representative will be on campus today to help you. See Ms. Loving to make sure that
you are signed up.
SELMA ROTC

Congratulations to Selma MC JROTC Drill team and Marksmanship team for their first place
finishes in their respective competitions. The Drill team on Tuesday was the overall winner
in the 2nd Annual San Joaquin Drill meet in Hanford California. The Marksmanship team in
their pursuit to repeat as State and Valley Champions on Sunday came out in a convincing
manner as the overall winner in the 2014 Best of the West competition. Great job to all the
cadets for their time and effort in representing our school and community.
