Background:
1. Has has been living in Pasig for over 20 years
2. A total of 12 living at home (including extended family i.e.
grandchildren)
3. Only the father entered college (but his current occupation is not
connected with the course he took)
4. Her husband is a family driver and she serves as a bookkeeper at the
Barangay Multi-Purpose Center.
5.

Two of their children did not enter college and currently have their own
families (high school graduates)

6. Monthly, the couple earns a total of 15,000 pesos. As their salaries are
only enough to pay for expenses and their everyday food, they are not
able to save money for emergency purposes.

Health and Sanitation


1. They usually eat fish and/or vegetables.
2. They practice waste segregation; garbage is being collected in their
barangay every day and each day is assigned either for Biodegradable and
Non-Biodegradable wastes only.

Energy
1. The household shares electricity with neighbors and they split the
electricity bill to be paid.
2. Members of the family encourage each other to save electricity and water
by turning of lights and faucets when not in use.
3. They do not turn on the faucet to its full extent to conserve water.

Livelihood and Lifestyle


1. She claims to be active in Barangay Projects.
2. She engages in different businesses like selling peanuts, corn and other
products.

Others
1. As much as possible, they try to reuse or repair broken materials.
2. They try to plant seeds in their improvised garden (compromising reused
pails and plastic bottles).

B. Renz Andaya

Background:
1. Has been living in the barangay for 22 years, since birth.
2. A total of 12 living in the household.
3. Finished college (BS Nursing) and currently works as a member of the
barangays kagawad, earning 15,000 pesos per month.
4. He is single and lives with his father.

5. He saves the money he earns while his father pays for the electric and
water bills.

Health and Sanitation


1. They usually eat pork.
2. They segregate regularly.

Energy
1. They spend about 6000 pesos on water and electricity.
2. The family tries to save water by turning off sprinklers and faucets when
not in use and by only flushing the toilet sometimes or when absolutely
necessary.
3. They own a car but it is rarely used.

Livelihood and Lifestyle


1. As a member of the kagawad, he is aware of and participates in barangay
projects such as the Clean-up drive.
2. He sells bottles that his family collects from trash.

Others
1. His family fixes broken appliances as much as possible.
2. The garden they have at home contains decorative plants only.
