Toccata pour deux guitares

We open our concerts with the Srnade op.96 n.1

by F. Carulli. This is one of the few pieces performed
that doesnt belong to Lagoyas trascriptions neither
to the compositions which were dedicated to them
in 20th century.
The Tonadilla for 2 guitars of Rodrigo was created in
1959 and dedicated to Ida Presti and Alexandre
Lagoya and it provides a stylized picture of Spain,
purified from every mannerism.
Every work for 2 guitars of Castelnuovo-Tedesco
belongs to his third creative period, when he came
to this kind of composition to correspond the needs
of Presti-Lagoya duo. Sonatina canonica and Fuga
elegiaca were created in this new style, dedicated to
the recently departed guitarist, Ida Presti.
The Toccata was written in 1959 by Pierre Petit,
French composer and director for many years of the
cole Normale de Musique in Paris.
