    ParkerwasbornandraisedinSalisbury,graduatedfromWicomicoHighSchool,andspenthisadultlifeservinghiscommunity.
    From1982to1998,Parkerservedonthecouncil,aspresidentfor12yearsandvicepresidentforfour.HewasalsoamemberoftheMaryland
    AssociationofCountiesBoardofDirectorsfrom1982to1998,andwaselectedtheorganizationspresidentin1993.PoliticsraninParkersblood
    hisfather,ThomasParkerSr.,wasmayorofSalisburyfrom1924to1928.
    MikeDunn,formerCityCouncilpresident,knewParkerfromayoungage.
    IgottoknowHenrybackwhenIwasakidin1967,whenhewasinchargeoftheWicomicoCountyCentennial.Iwasaneightyearoldatthe
    time,Dunnsaid.Yearslater,HenrybecameamentortomewhenIservedontheSalisburyCityCouncil.HesoneofthebestpeopleIveeverhad
    thepleasureofknowing.Hewasavisionary.Hewasaskindastheycame,buttoughandfirm.ImnotsureIveevermetanyoneasdevotedtotheir
    communityasHenrywas.
    WicomicoCountyCouncilAdministratorMatthewCreamerservedunderParkerfortheentiretyofParkers16yearsonthecouncil.
    IcanonlyscratchthesurfaceofHenrysworkitwouldtakehourstodescribehiscontributionstoWicomicoCounty,Creamersaid.Hewasa
    verywiseman,humble,andhischaracterwasunimpeachable.Therewasonlyonewayforhimtodosomething,andthatwastherightway.Whether
    itwastheeasywayornotwasneverthecase.
    TheHenryParkerSportsComplexonNaylorMillRoadwasnamedinhishonor,Creamersaid,becausehewasalmostsinglehandedlyableto
    convincetheothermembersoftheCountyCouncilthattherewasacommunityneedforsuchafacility.Localcompanies,civicorganizationsand
    parentswerehighlysupportiveoftheproject,anddonatedagreatdealoflabor,fundingormaterialstowardsitscompletion.
    Inapreparedstatement,WicomicoCountyExecutiveRickPollittsaid,Tomanyofusaroundthestate,HenryParkerwasMr.Wicomico.For
    generations,theParkerfamilyhasservedourcommunitywithgreatdistinctionandastrongheart.Mr.HenryscontributionsinsecuringWicomico
    CountysplaceastheHubofDelmarvacannotbeoverstated.Wewillmisshimtremendouslybuttakecomfortinknowingourcountythrives
    todaythanks,inlargepart,tohishavinglivedamongus.
    ParkersfuneralservicewillbeheldatTrinityUnitedMethodistChurchonSep.7at10a.m.
