Welcome!
This newsletter aims to update its readers on the latest news on the marketisation of services within the
NHS. A database of all 147 NHS Foundation Trusts has been created and FoI requests, on the out-sourcing
of contracts, has been made to each Trust. The newsletter will be published weekly and it will list the latest
information received from Trusts.

Latest News!
Good to report that Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust is now posting FoI responses direct to their
website. They are posted as downloadable files. Perhaps Monitor should be advising Trusts that they
should all follow this practice.
Another Trust has emailed, this week that they do not hold central records on procurement of services
(Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). If they do not hold central records on expenditure then how
does accountancy and auditing take place, we wonder?
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has supplied one of the best responses to the request so far in
the form of a detailed table of 58 contracts with supplementary information.
There is still no response to the request from City Hospitals, Sunderland. As a result, an approach will be
made to the Information Commissioner next week.

Comments: Short list of seven contracts.
Trust: Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust
Comments: One contract was awarded for The Appreciative Leadership Programme for staff and manager
leadership training. It was awarded in 2013 for 2 years (plus option to extend 2 years) to Fiona MacNeill
Associates.
Trust: North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
Comments: List of 43 contracts. Largely computer hardware, software and consultancy.
Trust: North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust
Comments: List of 14 contracts.
Trust: Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust
Comments: List of 99 contracts.
Trust: Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust
Comments: List of 5 contracts.

Comments: I confirm that this Trust holds the information you require but to investigate this request
further would require a manual search of records and we estimate it will cost more than the appropriate
limit to undertake this detailed investigation. The appropriate limit is specified in regulations and for a NHS
Foundation Trust is set at 450; this represents the estimated cost of one person spending 2 working days
in determining whether the Trust holds the information, and locating, retrieving and extracting the
information for completion of the request as a whole. Consequently the Trust is not obliged by the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 to respond to your request (section 12(1)).
