New Course Announcement: LA490, Accelerated Foundational Design and Communication: Summer
sessions 1 & 2 The LA 490 will substitute for LA 116 (fall offering) and LA 216, allowing students
interested in a CODO to be considered for admission into the professional program at the sophomore level.
This course will focus on seeing and interpreting the world with exercises in form, texture, color, emotion,
expression, and experience through drawing, model building, and abstraction. Classes will be a
combination of discussion based lecture, studio lab time, and field exercises. Landscape architects use
science, art, and technology to analyze, plan, design and manage the natural and built environment. The
Purdue Landscape Architecture program is consistently ranked among the top 10 LA programs nationally.
New Course Announcement: ENTM 295 Coming Spring 2015, a new 1 credit/8 week course, Arthropod
Pets: Care and Biology will be available. Meeting Monday and Wednesday at 10:30 am, this is an
exploratory class for freshman and sophomores who want to learn more about Entomology. Please see

Course Announcement: HIST 38001 Every spring, Professor Hurt offers a History of US Agriculture course,
which many of Agriculture undergrads take. Please see the syllabus for the spring 2015 offering for more
information. The course is scheduled for MWF, 9:30 10:20 am in UNIV 201.

MANRRS Purdue is hosting a clothing drive to benefit the YWCA. For the next few weeks we will be
collecting clothes that will help people who need them. We are teaming up with NSBE and MTE to collect
as many clothes as we can. If you are interested in donating, there is a box in the Agriculture
Administration building right outside Room 106. Donation deadline is Friday, December 12. Please see the

Ag Alumni Grant Calling any club in the CoA! The Ag Alumni Association is excited to announce that it will
again be offering grant opportunities for agriculturally-related organizations. Check out the grant guidelines
and application to see how these funds can benefit your organization. The Ag Alumni Grant is awarded on a
rolling basis, meaning that there is no set deadline that the application is due. Questions may be directed

Purdue Ag Alumni Fish Fry Get a head start on networking with fellow Purdue Ag supporters and
friends! Join us on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 for this annual event celebrating all things Purdue
Agriculture, featuring our keynote speaker, Dr. W. Dwight Armstrong, CEO of National FFA
Organization. Heres how:
You can serve! Join the team of 150 College of Ag Students that proudly serve the meal to our Fish
Fry guests. Its a great chance to meet alumni, legislators, and friends of the college. A free ticket
and transportation are provided, as well as a meal. Consider this for yourself and as an activity for

You can exhibit! Purdue Agriculture Avenue is an exhibit area open to Fish Fry attendees for 90
minutes before and after the program. This is a great chance to visit with our guests, network, and

Formula Five: A Fruit & Vegetable Marketing Competition The Produce for Better Health Foundation is
sponsoring a marketing competition to motivate Americans to eat more fruit and vegetables to improve

3-5 proposals will be selected to be presented during PBHs 2015 Annual Conference: The Consumer

Sustainable Bioenergy Summer 2015 Research Experience If you would like a challenging and fun
summer research experience in Sustainable Bioenergy please see the message below and the attached
file. We have openings in Agriculture Economics, Agronomy, Biological and Agricultural Engineering,
Chemical Engineering, Grain Science and Industry, and Sociology.
Kansas State University is now accepting applications for the summer 2015 Research Experience for
Undergraduates program May 26, 2015 July 31, 2015. The application deadline is February 15,
2015.
The Kansas State University Center for Sustainable Energy seeks applications for its summer 2015
REU program in sustainable bioenergy funded by the National Science Foundation. Accepted
students will be paid $4,500.00 for the 10 week program, room and board provided, and travel to
and from Manhattan, KS (up to $400.00). Total value of this program is $7,600.00 per student.
Eligibility: We accept students from all science, agricultural, and engineering majors and class years.
Applicants must be American citizens or permanent residents. First-generation college students,
members of ethnic minority groups, females in STEM disciplines, and other under-represented
groups are especially encouraged to apply. No previous laboratory or research experience is
required.
Program Overview: The research you will receive in this program under the guidance of faculty
mentors will advance your state of knowledge in sustainable energy. You will participate in handson experiences with processing agricultural biomass, experiencing the physical environment of
industrial-scale biomass processing with all its limitations and opportunities. Students will also meet
people that actually perform the work to produce renewable energy in the communities where they
live.

STUDY ABROAD
The third week will be back at Purdue with Colombian students and faculty for Teams
presentations; this will be shown via video-conference to other students and Instructors, in
Colombia. There will be an extra week for finishing the courses written paper, in English for Purdue
students.
