opportunity for professionals to share job
search strategies, job leads, community
resources information, and practice
techniques with fellow job seekers.

Cover Letters and Thank You Notes:


Are you focused on the employer and
succinct? Do you know the difference
between e-mail and paper? Are you
sending thank you notes? Come draft an
effective cover letter. Bring an ad to
write a draft cover letter.

Informational Meetings They are


easier than you think: Come learn how
simple it is to conduct meetings with
industry experts and job market
professionals to gather information about
an occupation or field. Informational
meetings help you focus your job
objectives, learn where hidden jobs may
exist and practice talking about yourself.

Interview Process and Various Types:


Discuss the entire process covering the
initial contact; research; preparation; follow
up; and specific strategies for various types
of interviews.

Interview Question Practice: You will


practice those difficult interview questions
receiving feedback and help to formulate
positive and compelling answers.

Interview With Your Skill Stories: Do


you know how to demonstrate in an
interview that you have had achievements
using skills needed by the employer?
Come write your skill story in a STAR
format (used by local employers) and
practice telling your convincing skill story.

In Transition: The orientation workshop


for new clients to learn about options,
trends, and services. You will get the big
picture job search overview and start

planning your future. Meet with a Career


Coach to see how they can help you with
your job search.

Know Your Skills: Learn how you have


over 300 skills. Be able to list your top 30
integrated and supportive skills. Come
see how skilled you really are and how to
focus the employer on you!

LinkedIn Basic Beginner: Profile,


Security, Contacts: Review Profile for
the job seeker, set Security Settings, begin
your experience record, request a
connection, and get started with Groups.
Good to have a LinkedIn account
(registered) with LinkedIn do not
have to have Connections (do not use
import). Bring your password.

LinkedIn Advanced Job Search &


Research: Job, Companies, and
Groups: Evaluate your Profile Header
and Current Job for relevant focus. How
to: utilize the Job Tab, research and follow
Companies; be involved with Groups and
participate in discussions; and do effective
research.

Marketing Yourself - Branding &


Networking: Develop and discuss how
your 30-second introduction, business
card, LinkedIn profile and Personal
Marketing Plan all work together to create
your personal brand and networking
strategy. Optional: 2 labs will be offered to
write and complete your Personal
Marketing Plan.

Microsoft Word I, II, III: Must attend


all three classes. Activities include stepby-step creating and saving a document,
text formatting, document formatting,
moving text, columns; bullets; margins;
indents, and spelling and grammar
checks. Text boxes and text box
formatting, document review techniques,
automatic page numbering, headers and
footers, document views, highlighting, text
