THE CLIENT
The client is the subsidiary of one of the world's largest railway
networks providing consulting and IT services to the parent railway
network

THE CHALLENGE
The client was in need of a partner who could assist them in
understanding the processes and codes that are followed by
different units across the railway network. The key requirements
were:

Data integration & synchronization with existing legacy systems

Standardization of processes and codes across different zones

(railways) by FMM-LMS team to implement a universal solution

Integration of automation devices like smart camera, PDA

(Personal Digital Assistant), RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) ,
kiosks and e-pens in the business process

Establishing communication with 24x7 busy railway staff in order

to understand their processes through gaining field experience
from maintenance units, operation units, management units,
research wing and production units

Environmental challenges posed due to the vast operating nature

of the railway network

THE SOLUTION
We implemented an SAP-based FMM-LMS solution to leverage an
effective information system for traffic management and integration
with central applications. We also developed a central portal,
ROAMS (Rolling Asset Management System), to host various
applications being developed under the supervision of the client for
the mechanical wing of the railways network. It includes FMM, LMS,
ICF (Integral Coach Factory) and WISE (Workshop Management
System). The solution included:
A multilingual software that provides information in different

regional languages to make the application more approachable

Complete automation of material management system to

minimize the wastage

 Plant maintenance automation to enhance the efficiency of maintenance operations

Real-time reporting to managers and senior officials in the organization through SAP and central application interface

Integration of ROAMS with FOIS (Freight Operations Information System) and depot/shed SAP application

Transacting schedule information from maintenance units to the operation wing to help them in the decision making
process about the further movement of locomotives and wagons

Tracking the movement of the rolling stock in a chart

Monitoring the movement of the rolling stock

Unification of working in sheds, controls, headquarters and railway board ensuring prompt decision making

Integration to existing systems providing an opportunity to automate many of the current manual processes

Monitoring the fund allocations done by the railway board
