Course objectives :
Students are able :
1.

Answer correctly the 3 tests given.

2.

Communicate fluently, correctly and confidently on the selected topic given.

3.

Read and understand the short story.

4.

Write well-reasoned and coherent paragraphs in report and reflective writing.

5.

Assess own language learning process in preparing through the writing of

reflections.

KERJA KURSUS 100 %

1. Parts of Speech ( 30 % )

Students are to sit for 3 short tests on parts of speech comprises of conjunctions,
prepositions and interjections.
2. Listening and Speaking ( 20 % )
You are to prepare a speech for at least three to five minutes. After the delivery of the
speech, you are to answer 3 questions from your friends based on your speech topic.

3. Writing a summary based on a short story ( 40 % )

Write a summary of about 500 words based on a chosen short story.The short story
must be of 1000 words .

Read the short story of about 1000 words

Identify the main ideas and transfer them on to a graphic organizer

Rephrase the main ideas

Write a summary

4. Writing Reflection (10% )

Write an individual reflective report (200 300 words)

Task instructions:
1.

Task 1, 2 and 4 are individual. Task 3 is group work.

2.

A complete coursework folio should include the chosen short story, graphic
organizer, summary of the story and individuas reflections.

3.

The writings of summary and reflections must be printed in Arial font size
12. Take extra care with your grammar, structure, spelling and punctuation.
Refer closely to dictionaries and books to help you with these aspects of
language. Marks will be deducted if your language hinders meaning.
Plagiriasm in all form is forbidden.

4.

Each group is strongly advised to properly prepare their coursework.

5.

The arrangement of your folio should be as follow:

The coursework carries 100% and the weightage is 60 %.
