Dear Sarah,
How are you and your family getting along? I hope that everything is fine. We arrived in Malaysia a forthright
ago. The weather here is fantastic. Its hot and I love it. It much better than the snow in New York. I must admit
that the weather also reflects the people here who are very warm and friendly.
We were met at the KLIA by my Uncle Jimmy, who drove us to our new house in Petaling Jaya. It is about an
hours drive from the airport. I have yet to register for a new school term. I am worried about learning Malay
Language as I left Malaysia six years ago. But, Im not sure that in time Ill be able to catch up.
I must also tell you about the food here, its to die for. For breakfast today we had nasi lemak, which is rice
served with spicy chicken, called rendang with a boiled egg. For dinner tonight, my grandmother is making rice
cooked in bamboos. It is called lemang. We eat it with peanut gravy and chicken rendang.
Thats all I have time for, Ill write again after I have settled down in my new school. By for now.!

Your pal,
Sonia Areeta
