Maricopa ARTS Council announces a new Spotlight Showcase for Maricopa

Artists to be held at Bead & Berry Coffee Shop - February - April 2015
MAC, in consultation with Gareth Kerlin, inspired co-owner of the new Bead & Berry
Coffee Shop, announces a newly-conceived, juried gallery show for Maricopa
Visual Artists devoted to artworks that display properly by hanging on a wall.
The show features several exciting new aspects, including an on-going "Art
Now" experience -- new works to be created on-site ! -- that will run for the full
length of the show, and Artworks on exhibit will be able to be sold.
The full show will include a maximum of 32 completed works, plus the
c. 25-30 "Art Now" pieces to be created during the duration of the show.
The opening reception is Friday February 6th and will be up for two months.
Full details below:
New Show Features
Main Gallery:Works may be in any medium suitable for wall hanging. Eligible
media include:
Painting, sketches, photography, image on flat metal, weaving, tapestry,
glass panel, shallow bas-relief, etc.
For questions on eligibility please query the jury coordinator during the entry period
( 1/12 - 1/15/2015).
Artists have the option that all works displayed for the duration of the show are
eligible to be sold.
"Art Now": Exciting opportunity for c. 25-30 artists to create a new work
on-site using chalk markers on three large conjoined black glass panels
on the coffee shop's rear wall: total 3 ft x 6 ft. expanse.
These works must be Nature-themed (in line with Bead & Berry's tree logo).
Each new work will be created by the Artist during Bead & Berry's regular
open hours, providing a fascinating chance for Maricopans to interact with Art in the
making, and with a live Artist at work. * Artists accepted for the main wall gallery
will have priority in being on "Art Now" roster.
These new 'ephemeral' works will stay on display for 2-3 days only, then be
replaced by a following brand-new, newly-created work by another Maricopa Artist.
This is a juried show. All Artists who want to submit (including "Art Now"
only entrants ) must send at least 1 JPG image of work with their completed
application.

Any Maricopa Visual Artist may enter 1 or 2 works only for consideration for
display.
