Section 7

Controls

General :

1.1

The various controls listed below shall be electrically operated and generally comply with
the specifications listed below .

In case of low voltage controls, necessary step down transformers shall be provided
with each control as required.

Air Handling Unit and Fan Coil Units Controls :

The controls shall comply with the following and include control wiring etc.

2.1

Double Skin Unitary AHU (Horizontal floor mounted and unitary ceiling mounted)

2.1.1 Return Air/room Thermostat

The thermostat shall be cooling/heating type, suitable for mounting in the room or return
air passage, as required. The thermostat shall be modulating potentio-meter type with an
adjust able throttling range and required accuracy and shall be able to produce a signal of
4-20 m Amp.
2.1.2 Motorised Water Valve
The motorised water valve shall consist of gunmetal valve body with stainless steel trim
and equal percentage flow characteristics, modulating motor and linkage. The valve for
chilled water line shall be of throttling type. Sleeper/hotary/ball valves shall not be
acceptable. Valves upto 50 mm shall be external threaded (Screwed) type. Valve abobe 50
mm shall be of flanged type. PN rating of these valves shall not be less than 16 bar. KVS
value (valve flow coefficient) of selected valve shall not be less than required KVS value.
Characteristics of valves shall be equal percentage type. Close off rating of valve actuators
shall be higher than the maximum differential pressure across the valve against which it
must close. Actuators shall be compatible with ) 10 VDC as well as 4 20 m Amp and
both valve and actuator shall be of same make.
2.2

Fan Coil Units

2.2.1 The thermostat shall be space type for cooling/heating. The thermostat shall be snap
acting, line voltage, mercury bulb type with a differential 1.1 deg. C. It shall have min.
(3) three speed control complete with wiring etc. Snap acting thermostat shall operate on
230 V A.C.

2.2.2 The water valve for chilled water circuit for FCU shall be motorised ON/OFF valve. It
shall provide 2 position ON/OFF control of the units.

Gauges :
The water pressure gauges shall be of robust construction with minimum 100 mm dial,
made out of stainless steel SS-304, All parts are made from copper alloy & stainless steel.
Dial shall be in white colour and numbers are in the black and red colour for the better
visibility. Gauge shall have a stainless steel `U tube of 15 mm dia x 400 mm in length both
side threaded with stainless steel nut. A ball valve also provided at one end of tube for
protecting gauge during testing of the system.

Thermometers :
The thermometers shall be mercury filled industrial stem V-form type. The body shall be of
Aluminium alloy anodised gold coloured surface. The glass capillary shall be triangular in
shape with blue mercury filled in the glass for better visibility, scale of reading shall be
range to 0 to 100O C & -32O F to 120O F with suitable graduation. Thermometer shall be
suitable for 15 mm connection and shall have long stem.
