The 20X Factor: Character trait

number five - Determination

Previously, we discussed
how the faculty, staff, and
students of Tarkio R-I would
be embracing the 20X factor.
The 20X factor is fueled by
the five character traits required for massive success
in any worthy endeavor. We
will learn how desire, belief,
attitude, discipline and determination work together to
super-charge performance.
Knowing what our why is
will provide a foundation for
developing our non-quitting
spirit. The second character
trait was belief. In the simplest terms, it is the expectation that we will achieve
our goals and be victorious.
Your attitude is the daily
drive, the action expression
of that willpower to achieve
your why. The fourth character trait of the 20X factor is discipline. To be the
disciple of daily decisions
that will push you towards
achieving your why.
The fifth and final character trait is determination.
Determination is your staying power for the long haul
on achieving your desire.
In the face of challenge, obstacle, and resistance, your
determination will drive you
to keep moving on to achieve
your desire. You must have a

There is no half way in, half

way out choice of maybe
kind of wanting to be successful. Our deepest fear
is not that we are inadequateour deepest fear is
that we are powerful beyond
measure.
Somewhere along the line
on your pursuit towards
your why, you will have
the opportunity to take the
easy way out and stop being you. It will be tempting
to let someone poke you in
the chest and tell you that
youre no good. When things
get hard youll be tempted to
start looking for someone or
something to blamelike a
big shadow. The world isnt
all sunshine, rainbows, and
Torrey Pines chicken. The
world can be a mean, ugly,
and nasty place. It can beat
us to our knees and keep us
there permanently if we let
it. You, me, or nobody is going to hit as hard as life
it isnt about how hard you
can hitits about how hard
you can get hit and keep
moving forwardhow much
you can take and keep moving forward.
Thats how winning is
done! Weve all got a purpose,
dreams or desires we want
to achieve. If we put in the
work, whose got the right to
tell us no? Who has the right

youre worth, go get what

Cassidy Bothwell

Who am I talking about?
None other than our very
own Cassidy Boswell. Cassidy is the daughter of Nancy
and Trent Bothwell. Nancy
currently works at Honey
Tree Nursery School and
her father is a proud farmer.
Cassidy also has one brother named Corben. He is 14
years old and attending seventh grade at Tarkio.
While growing up, one
of her favorite memories is
how much fun she would
have on the farm. Some of
her adventures would include exploring the woods
or jumping on the hay bales.
She also enjoyed ice skating
on the pond and getting to
feed the cows.
When it comes to school,
Cassidy will tell you that
golfing was her favorite part
and being active in school
activities. For three years
she has participated in golf
and has loved every minute.
From her freshman year
to this year, she has been
in FCCLA and she played
the clarinet in band. In her
senior year she has joined
FBLA and NHS.
Outside of school she has
many hobbies including
reading a good book such
as the Hunger Games or
the Harry Potter series. She
also enjoys just hanging out
with all her friends, which is
always fun. I must also include golfing as she would
put it, Golfing is for life.
When it comes to Cassidy
shes always in the mood for
a good laugh, which she gets
from watching her favorite
show Friends. Why Friends
you ask? Well, Its really
easy to get into and not to
mention hilarious. When
shes in the mood to watch a
movie, she will tell you that
all Marvel superhero movies
are the best, like Iron Man
or Captain America. Cassidy also has good taste when
it comes to music. She loves
listening to country. Her favorite artists include Darius
Rucker to Blake Shelton.
She also added that every
once in a while she enjoys
todays current music. Since
we are talking about good
taste, food comes to mind
and Cassidy can tell you
that mac and cheese is her
favorite and as far as restau-

Amber Riley - The smile

that says it all

Amber Riley, the girl with
the brightest smile and the
warmest heart, is usually
quiet, but she knows how to
stand up for herself! She is
the daughter of Andy Riley,
our locally known Deputy
Sheriff of Atchison County,
and her mom, Amie Riley,
who continues to be a wonderful stay-at-home mom
with her little sister, Sophia.
Amber also has two brothers, Drew Riley and Kris
Riley.
Growing up was a very
memorable time for this senior, but her favorite childhood memory would be
when her family went to
Busch Gardens and rode the
Der Wirbelwind swing. Amber was too scared to ride
it alone so her father rode
it with her. The ride finally
came to a stop and Andys
backside was stuck in the
swing. Amie and Amber had
to help pull Andy to his freedom.
Amber is very well-known
around our small community. She has been involved in
band for three years, choir
for two years, and FCCLA
for two years. Since 15 years
old, Amber has taken on the
job of babysitting for whomever needs the help and I

hear that she is wonderful with the kids she works

with. In her free time, she
enjoys reading books like
The Old Willis Place and
watching TV shows and
movies like Pretty Little Liars, Maleficent, and Phantom of the Opera. She always is more likely to listen
to county music, especially
if it is Toby Keith singing it.
Amber likes to eat steak the
most as long as its well done
with no pink. She cheers the
loudest for the Cardinals.
She also enjoys yearbook
and loves pandas. Throughout high school her most
memorable moment would
be when Mr. Us phone went
off and he was telling all the
kids to take their phones
out and then it turned out to
be his phone going off. Her
most embarrassing moment
would be when she was in
